Topsflo Solar Pump Mounting

Post by mumblecrunch » Thu Nov 10, 2016 3:21 pm

I've got one of the Topsflo TS5 pumps that I'm intending to use for moving hot liquor and recirculating wort for vorlauf (I've got a center inlet Chugger for whirlpool), and I've been trying to come up with a way to mount it. I've seen some rigs with wood frames and the like, but nothing that looked clean and secure. My first thought was to try to find a electronics project box, but none of them are well suited based on their measurements and the way i want to then mount the enclosure to my brewstand.

Google/eBay has revealed that there is a brewshop in the UK that sells a bracket specifically for these pumps, but although the bracket is about CAD$5 they want $30 to ship it across the pond :)

Looking at the picture below, is this something I'm likely to be able to assemble myself if I spend a long enough time hunting through bins at the hardware store?

Check out the various pipe hangers at Home Depot. Something is likely to work: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Plumbing-Plu ... 5yc1vZbqjc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PIPE HANGERS. Dammit, I knew I'd seen what I was looking at in the photo, but I couldn't figure out where. Looks like to get something like what is pictured I'm going to have to go the Grainger route. But I'll have a look around the city to see whether anyone brings them in for buildings and/or sprinkler systems.

Thanks a ton for the nudge!!

Ooooh. Thanks! I've learned that these things are called "Munsen Rings" and they're way more popular in the UK than here for some reason. Still haven't found a non-UK source that doesn't want me to buy a dozen though. While the rubber-lined version would be nice for vibration absorption purposes, at least this would be on this side of the pond...

Try Eddy Group. Pretty sure you have one in Halifax. Check out their stainless section as well, the one in Amherst carries a whole bunch of useful stuff.
Why brew beer I can buy?
