The Conversion to Electric.

Post by Keith » Wed Mar 29, 2017 8:32 pm

So I've been brewing a few years outdoors and finally had enough. The Mrs gave me permission to convert a room in our home to a brewers indoor playground. :rockin: I'm still trying to figure out what she a) wants or b) did wrong.

So my last brew day was in around Dec 2nd and was the DIPA and Milk Stout for the HRB comp. Been out of beer for a bit now. But told myself I'm not brewing til I can brew indoors...

So lets get to it....
Pre Demo.... What the room was like.... No kids were evicted. The toy graveyard has been relocated.

Pre Demo 1.jpg
Demo was rewarding. Those shelves were a bastard!!!

Then I pulled the trigger and went with a cost effective pre built solution along with a 450 CFM stainless vent. Sorry Dave ya didn't even stock what I needed :( Pics of Hot Rods, vent and Spa Panel wouldn't upload. You'll see it all soon enough.

The next part was construction. These obviously aren't in any particular order.

And this brings us to the current status.
Floor and door installed. Started trim.

I'm hoping to get the rest of this done this week/weekend and be brew ready for the weekend of April 8th. :rockin:

Should note I'm missing a few pictures. Had a phone die and some others said invalid format.

Looks great! If only I didn't need a furnace, I would have a room...

Good stuff! Can't wait to see the finished project!

Just reading a bit about your controller...sounds really cool! How's it working for you? I'd like to upgrade my stilldragon one in the future so I can dial my process in a little better...this could be the ticket!

I can't get to it to power it on; the room it is in is filled with kids shit, brew gear and everything else you can imagine. haha. I'm hoping to get it mounted once I get the sinks in place which should hopefully be this weekend.

Took last night off doing anything. was exhausted. :rockin:

Once I get the unit online I'll see if I can setup a external IP so you can access it and check it out first hand.
I'll just unplug the elements incase they get powered on lol. Don't need those burning up on me.

You've been busy, that is going to be a slick setup. Sinks are going to come in handy!

Sweet! I've been eyeing the Hosehead units for a while. Looking forward to a review when you get things up to speed. How does the construction feel?

Feels sturdy. Pop in and check it out once online. Continuation of trim tonight... Think it will look sharp.Image

Just powered it in for the first time.
Pretty much plug and play. Connect to Wi-Fi then just connect to a url via web. I setup a static ip on my router to ensure I can find it. Very user friendly. Will dive in further over the next week.

Manual, or auto set elements. Can also set ranges for temp drops so they don't constantly cycle. Also pumps are controllable from this unit. Click of a button on and off. Tested from laptop. Ipad and phone.
