Hey guys,

With luck, tonight I'll be picking up a stainless fridge to turn into a kegerator. Is there anything special I should know about drilling through stainless for my lines before I have at it? I'm new to all this "handy" stuff, this is my very first kegerator project, and figure I should ask those more experienced before cocking something up and/or wasting money that would be better spent on more beer fixins. Any advice welcome!

I think the most important thing is to be sure that there are no coolant lines in the area that you're planning to drill through the fridge.

Yeah, you really need to know that there isn't cooling lines where you are drilling.

Drill the door. It's the only spot you can be sure of no lines.

Le sigh. I guess my rules of Kijiji etiquette are less than universal. The fridge I had arranged to buy tonight got sold out from under me.

Thanks, though, for the advice. I decided to go with a full-sized fridge so that I could go through the door and not mess with coolant lines or anything else important. Will just a regular bit work for the thickness of steel that's on a fridge? (See? New to the handy stuff. )

Now, to make a second fridge fit in a 1000 square foot home...

The stainless on most fridges is near paper thin, I wouldn't worry about it.
