Hey everyone...

A buddy was the contractor on a recent demo a rest/bar.
in addition to lots of kegs/regs/cool neon signs/pub chairs...I also found a 7 pass cold plate.

I was in need of a jockey box this summer, and Sandy generously offered the use of his.


but since I have this cold plate...might as well make some use of it...so we are planning a 2 tap box...we have the cold plate plumbed up to do 4 passes on the 1st tap, and 3 passes on the 2nd tap.

a brew buddy offered to buy a cooler...he wanted something cool, something that would be tough, and something made in north america..

so this is what he got

for folks that have already built one...how much beer line are you using? 10'? anything else I should think about before start making holes

There should be lots of resistance in the plate. Line length should not be an issue.

I have some misc. parts and pieces you can have so ask before you buy.

my parts list so far is;
2 faucet/shanks
couple feet of beer line
2 ball lock beer quick connects
18 hose clamps
and I was thinking we need rubber grommets for where the beerlines come out of the back...the cooler is steel so I want to protect the beerline.

Princess Auto has a variety pack of Grommets that should do the trick. It's what i used on Stanley for the CO2 lines.

This isn't hte greatest pic, but serves it's purpose.

awesome...I have to go to PA next week anyway...i'll take a look...I have to go buy a pump sprayer (beerline cleaner)

Carbonator cap & 2 liter bottle does the trick. Put the ball lock on, open the tap, and squeeze the bottle (or hold it up so it's gravity fed). Rinse, then sanitize.

I haven't done this yet. But will be if I ever remember to buy a carbonator cap.

Yea it's pretty friggin awesome lol.

I was thinking of using faucet shanks on the back, to connect the beer lines to the cooler...drill hole, secure with shank nuts/washers, and add tails on each end to connect beerline...make it a clean install...
any thoughts?

Seems legit. I dont' see why it wouldn't work. Would also make it easy to tear down and clean.

I would put the shanks at the top and not the middle (like that pic). Probably best to keep the shanks out of the water\ice.

Yeah I was thinking on the top corners of the back...hoping dave has pass through shanks

Keep me posted. I'm tempted to build one using a couple stainless coils.

What was the final cost?

$60 for the cooler
$92 for taps/shanks/clamps/beer line/keg connectors.
the block was free.

not too bad

all 4 brewers in our clan split the cost...so it wasnt bad at all...we all camp together, and will use it for stanfest as well as our annual community pig roast

made a line cleaner based off of allan's design.
pump sprayer from PA ($11.99)....and a replacement beer/keg post from everwood ($9.99).

no tools or extra parts required. ..loosen nozzle, insert entire replacement post into the nozzle hole with (make sure the new post is tightened to it's base...ok u may need 2 wrenches. ..but I swear those are the only tools u need).
then re-tre-tighten the nozzle.

done....I pumped it up and attached it to a beer line to test for leaks...all good

the trigger is also lockable so u don't have to hold on to the handle
