Vintage Cooler Jockey Box build

Does anyone know anyone in halifax that may be able to restore an old metal cooler.

I'd say it just needs some paint and a clear coat. I was thinking maybe an auto body shop, but I doubt they would want the job.

Looking to build a cool Jockey box with it.

I think you could do that pretty easily at home. A shaker can will give you a nice finish if you're patient, thorough and don't mind doing lots of colour sanding.

I'd try to get an exact colour match.

I'd like to paint it Robin Egg Blue :)

like Jeff said, you could do a decent job with a spray can if you can find the colour you like in a metal paint.

If it were me, I'd use some steel wool to remove any loose paint and/or rust. Then I'd use some metal primer, either spray or brush on. If brush on, I'd use a foam brush. Then I'd apply the spraypaint in several thin coats. Then a couple of glossy clearcoats.

But that's just how I'd do it. YMMV

yeah bluenose is right. ive had good luck with tremclad and rustoleum, i prefer tremclad but they dont have much for colour options. the biggest thing with the spray coats is to use thin coats, and follow the instructions closely - i put on too many coats (one per day for like a week to get primer/white/colour/clear all on) then i had to leave it in my car in the sun for a while before it really cured properly hard. still not too sure about it.

Cooler all painted and ready for some taps.

Took it right down to the metal. Coils fit perfectly in it!

Would a MOD mind moving this to the DIY form?

Moved, though to keep in the spirit of DIY, some details on the steps you ended up taking would help folks thinking of doing the same.
Cheers!

Thanks guys.

So far I just stripped the original paint or with some paint remover and steel wool. Use a tremclad primer and then used krylon blue ocean breeze paint and then clear coat.

I got the coils from UBS. A friend was able to order from them. They are 120 feet SS.

Next step is to the taps on and hooked up.
