Have a couple of applications for hose/tubing that I'm looking for recommendations:

1) hose to be used to attach garden sprayer for cleaning in my utility sink. Requirements are that it be somewhat flexible but not susceptible to kinking. Needs to handle hot water. Does not need to be food safe (only used for cleaning). Currently using an old green garden hose, but it is SO friggin stiff it makes it annoying to manipulate.

2) hose to go from water filter to 'fill location'.. meaning mash cooler, brew pot, topping up fermentation buckets.. needs to be food safe, but does not need to handle hot fluids at all. Non-kinking also a requirement. Currently using an RV hose that kinks like a motha-fucka!

Thoughts??

My thought is to dispense with hose #2. I used to have that kind of setup but found residual water goes stale in the hose and develops a bad taste with traces of nasty slime in it. Now I fill a large pot directly from the tap, and carry it to where it is needed for brewing, dump it in, and repeat a few times. Just as easy I find.

Rubber hose for #1

I will be using PEX from the 'tap' to my water filter location.. so it should be same as any 'less often used' plumbing in my house. I also haven't had any issues with stale/slimey water so far. Fill and lugging pots/buckets around is something I want to avoid in my brewery for obvious reasons.

I use a rubber "hot water" hose for cleaning. I wouldn't use it for drinking water, I don't find it kinks easy, but its very easy to handle (especially warm).

Homehardware sells an overpriced flat clear hose which is nice, food grade. Any braided clear hose would work, although they're all pretty bad for kinking (cheap RV hose is the worst tho)

How far from the water filter does the hose need to reach? If you're not going to have it under much pressure, 1/2" silicone would likely work good. The braided stuff that I'm using is quite resistant to kinking, and likely has a decent pressure rating so you may be able to pressurize it too.

The water filter 'filling mash cooler' hose really shouldn't be under any pressure.. as it is open ended. I thought about silicone but it seems a bit overkill? The braided silicone stuff you have would likely work quite well. Did you find a Canadian source for that?

I bought 10 ft of the overpriced flat clear hose, works well to fill my pot. For cleaning I use a crappy garden house from CT.
