The brewery is coming together
Hi brewnosers
Here's a few pics of my electric build. Still has lots of work left, but it's a great feeling to finally see some visual progress. From dreaming to doing; this one project has spent years in the conceptual phase and as many of you know, it' fun to see it materialize.
Next step: customizing the mash tun and kettle with the scary but necessary drilling and welding. This will be followed by the electric control panel build.
Cheers!

Re: The brewery is coming together
Brewnosers,
I've decided to go the silver solder way for the spud I need to install on the kettle - it's for the electric element. I need a 1 3/8 inch hole and I do have a cheapo step drill - but I'd rather use a punch.
Any idea on rentals/ selling used / etc? I know Dave offered in the past to have it done at his everwood shop but I'm in Dieppe..!
Cheers,
Chockpish

Re: The brewery is coming together
Thanks for all the great comments! I just drilled a few holes this evening into the mash tun & kettle; I ve used step bits and it worked out ok. I would have preferred a radius punch for a cleaner job, but this will do.
Next step is to order some silver solder and liquid flux. While I will be waiting for delivery (probable from eBay) I will start building the electric controller.
Things are moving ahead, but my wife is expecting in a few weeks so i really need To get things going while I still can!!

Looks awesome man. I think some people who used step bits maybe used a file to clean up any burrs etc after. But i might be wrong. Worth doing a search

I use a Dremel to clean up after using a step drill. Holes are usually clean after that.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:Looks awesome man. I think some people who used step bits maybe used a file to clean up any burrs etc after. But i might be wrong. Worth doing a search

Re: The brewery is coming together
The dremel was a good advice, I got those burrs cleaned up good!
Now working on the control panel; any idea how the e stop is mounted on the controller? There's 2 screws sitting at an angle but I was expecting a jam nut of some sort. Maybe missing something here, but this certainly has me scratching my head!

Not sure exactly what switch you have, but I'm guessing that the red button will come off, and that silver collar in the picture may be threaded? Hard to tell from the pic.

Re: The brewery is coming together
It should be the angled screws just under the silver collar. Loosen the screws and the button and silver collar should push down and twist off.

Re: The brewery is coming together
Thanks guys, got it figured out! Just a matter of tightening the angled screws against the panel itself. Thanks for your help.

Hey chockpish, where did you get the twist lock plug receptacle that you have in your panel there?
