Big News and A Big Thank You!

Post by GillettBreweryCnslt » Mon Oct 05, 2015 10:40 am

Hey Everyone,

Most of you have heard, but I wanted to announce that with your support and encouragement I have recently left my "real" job and am now working the brew shop full time. It's a huge step for me and one that I hope will allow us to grow the business to new heights. Just under 2-1/2 years ago I started out with a few bags of grain in a dingy basement and now I'm one of the fastest growing and most diverse homebrew stores in Canada. To be honest I owe it in part to this community. I wanted to thank you for your continuing loyalty and hopefully together I'll be able to keep growing and expanding.

I have already fielded several questions about the transition so I'll try to hit the highlights here. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm a bit overwhelmed at this point so I may take a day to get back to you, but I will.

1. Am I moving locations? No, not for the near and foreseeable future at least. My current commute is too sweet!
2. What are your hours going to be? Not sure, definitely keeping the current T/F evenings and Saturday afternoons. I'll probably add a couple of days through the week too, since I'll be here. If you want to email and make an appointment, I can likely accommodate you through the day now.
3. What expansion plans do you have? Lots! In the near future we will be launching a new website, adding over 100+ recipe kits, expanding the hops and grain selection and bringing in new product lines (there's a really big one that just got released today). Stay tuned as we grow some more.

Thank you!

Dave

I kind of like the idea of a 24/7 local Homebrew shop. Lol

As much as I would love to have the shop within walking/bussing distance so I could go more often instead of only when I can borrow my father's car I definitely can understand the commute angle :P

Congratulations again! I can't wait for the recipe and ingredient expansion in particular.

Any chance of SS brew tech? That's the main "someday" shiny bling gear I droll over at the moment (their fermenters look amazing and seem to get good reviews on homebrewtalk). The blichhman burners definitely look amazing too by the way (I would love the whole top tier stand setup with two burners and a shelf, gravity fed everything... but I think I'll probably try to jump to BIAB since right now I'm just on extract).

I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

Good luck Dave. I have lots of Everwood stuff from all the competitions you have been sponsoring. Thanks for supporting them :) I have a nice tuque with Everwood embroidered on it, well I did have, I gave it to my 6 year old (didn't have any choice really), He commandeers all the hats. He has a ball cap from the Seibel Institue, It is a "Max" hat so it has his name on it too, another Red Racer one, a Nine Mile Legacy one .... You should see him heading off to school. I'll try to post a picture of him setting off in the tuque when it gets colder.

Heh, your school sounds much saner than mine then. My brother was made to wear a shirt advertising a blues festival inside out because there was a bottle of jack Daniels in the background (the foreground was a painting of a blues guitarist sitting at the bar on a stool with his guitar)... Any references whatsoever to alcohol on clothing = strictly forbidden at the high school I went to.
