Ok folks.

After making and trying brew in a bag last weekend, I realized how easy and cheap it is to get into all grain brewing using this method. My girlfriend decided to offer up her time to make custom BIAB bags for people who are looking to give it a go. The bags are 2 pieces; a round bottom piece and and a tube shape for the sides. All seams are double stitched/serged for extra strength.

The following is pricing. Anything bigger, and we can work out a price.

Cylindrical - Up to the size of a Sankey Keg:
$20 without handles
$25 with 2 handles or 4 tabs

Post here or PM me if you're interested in having one made.

I wish I had a serger! Those things look awesome. You should put a drawstring on those bad boys for easy removal.

I think I remember you saying you have a false bottom on your keggle. Am I recalling that correctly, do you think its needed for BIAB?

That is a nice job for sure. Makes me consider a mini system...

A 20l version would be great for making stock.

I do have a false bottom, though many don't use them. The only advantage of the false bottom is that you can heat the pot directly while the bag is in it. You can use anything for a false bottom though, since it's only used to keep the bag off the bottom.

This can be done. All I would need are dimensions of the pot.

Honestly, i'm not too sure. I don't have handles on mine yet, but it wasn't bad without them. The extra length on mine probably helped as well though. I'm thinking about adding a draw string and handles to mine to see how much they help.

wouldnt mind getting one of these.

when you guys are using this during the mash how do you keep the keggle insulated?

also for the keggles what sort of efficiencies are you getting? how big of a batch can you make?

I just use reflectix. It's a reflective bubble insulation found at home depot, rona etc. I've only done a couple brews so far using this method, but have hit around 72% on both. There are apparently ways to get higher efficiency, but I'm happy with what I'm getting. Batch size really depends on your grain bill, but I've done a 5g, 7% IPA, and still had quite a bit of room left in the keg.

are you using propane or electric?

if propane how often do you need to leave the burner on to keep the temp constant?

Propane. And I don't really need to turn the burner on to keep the temp consistent...it drops about 2* over the hour.

Our professional brewer figures that for most heavily modifieed grains, the majority of conversion is done after about five minutes, so it's probably a moot point on insulation for a lot of brews.

Hey all, I picked up my bag from Jimmy this evening and it's great. I got a small one to fit my 20 litre pot for stovetop brewing until my rig is finished. FYI I do high gravity partial boils and top up in the primary for a 21L batch. Here are some pics.
