I'm starting to plan some recipes for this so when I get back from vacation in April I can start brewing. Are we following the 2008 or 2014 BJCP guidelines?

Also have we decided on the max # of entries?

Max entries for the event is 325, max per person is 15 (one per subcatagory).

The BJCP has announced that it'll continue using the 2008 guidelines for awhile longer. We'll use the 2008.

I think we all do. April is going to be a busy month for brewing. I'm thinking these. I haven't had luck with my red ales, but this should get me some feedback to help direct me. Some glad I have a ton of hops.

The twitter is run by 3 sources i believe, Myself, Chalmers, and Jimmy. I sent out 1 tweet so far about it. I'll spread them out a bit
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Not on Twitter, so it is good that some others are covering that. I will try to spread the word to other Canadian Homebrewing clubs via email, forums and facebook.

Can we setup the brewnosers Facebook account. I'm not a Twitter guy but think the brewnosers FB is a great idea.

Just read the competition rules, bit confused, never entered a beer competition.

What is the purpose of submitting the recipe to the judges, if submitted for a category why is there a need for ingredients disclosure? Just a bit confused and need some clearification or explanation. I've submitted to wine and spirit competitions and no ingredient disclosure was required, just a bit confused.

I guess what I'm asking about this judging, is it based on meeting raw material/mechanical requirements or about style/art (as in taste, feel, etc,) requirements, or both?

The reason I'm asking, I don't want to submit something that has an ingredient that is a no-no, say 0.05% Roasted Barley in my Pilsner (or some crazy shit like that, not that I would do that, well, maybe I did).
Why brew beer I can buy?

I never fill that in and haven't been disqualified yet. It would take about a day to enter all the recipe details for 15 entries.

The recipe is optional information, I don't think many people include it. I certainty don't.

Sent from the brew timer.

Only worry about special ingredients that the judges should be aware of, like what fruit is in your fruit beer. Full recipe is more important later if you win and someone is making a commercial copy as your prize.

Too funny, someone has a sense of humor, love it (most of our wines are fruit wines - all 22 of them).

So, submit recipe with the bottles or only "after I win"?
