News keeps saying considerable damage...that's more than 2 weeks to me to fix, but I guess we'll see.

Could just be putting on a brave face.
They have laid off all (most?) Of The staff, but that might be a formality shop they can collect EI until they reopen (and making cash to pay said staff).

Yeah, that sounds wiser. I don't know what they were smoking when they came up with the initial estimate....

It would obviously be timely if they could at least open in time for the Beerfest.

Bad news, guys... the estimate by the owners is 4-6 months now.

That original estimate was bizarre. You can't repair a building with that amount of smoke and water damage in that timeframe. There's just too much work and too many hurdles to jump over. It may never open again there, but hopefully it works out.

That's really too bad about GDAH.
Just ordered my ticket for the Beer fest, can wait to try out Grimross.

Garrison Ale House will be closed for 6 months
Garrison Ale House will be closed for 6 months
Owners of the Garrison District Ale House are now expecting the popular Fredericton restaurant will be closed between four to six months after the building was hit by fire on Jan. 4.
Doug Williams, the restaurant’s co-owner, had initially hoped the Garrison could be open in six weeks, but on Monday he said it will take much longer to finish the renovation.
“We're estimating right now probably four to six months because of water in the electrical room downstairs. We basically have to haul the whole electrical system out and rewire everything, so that takes quite a bit of time,” he said.
Fredericton fire officials say they are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. However, officials say the fire not suspicious and they have ruled out an electrical malfunction.
The Garrison District Ale House outlined some of its challenges on its Facebook page on Monday.
“Construction crews will be spending a few weeks stripping everything down before the rebuild,” the Facebook post said.
“There is some good news. The shelving in the back of the restaurant appears to be fit to keep, as does the bar itself.”
The fire has not only been a setback for the restaurant’s owners, but also the staff who worked there.
Williams said his staff won't be able to wait it out for the longer renovation period.
He said they have started looking for other work and a few have found other jobs already.

I wonder if its the new EI rules that made them look for new work.

EZ and I are going Friday, no solid plans. Berley gave some suggestions on what to hit up. Snooty Fox and Lunar Rogue are decent pub food, with Picaroons and Pump House on tap.

The two best remaining options are likely The Snooty Fox and Lunar Rogue... both have a decent number of taps, but they're mostly the usual suspects, along with some Picaroons.
Of course, there's no place in the city that can even hold a candle to the Garrison's selection, especially bottle-wise.

I prefer the Rogue's food to the Snooty Fox, at least I did 8 to 10 years ago…

Re: Fredericton Craft Beer Festival - March 9, 2013
One other thought I had... there's a diner-type-place on Queen St called Molly's. I've never been in there to eat or drink, so I can't back anything up... but one time this summer I walked by and noticed they had a draft list on a board in the door, and they had something like 5 or 6 Pump House beers listed. No Picaroons or anything else... just Pump House. Beers you can't get in bottles, like their IPA, Biere de Garde, etc.
If anyone is thinking of doing a little pub crawl, it may be worth a stop, just to see if I'm insane or not.

I'll be up there.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
