Tomorrow is Firkin Wednesday! Not only does the cask of IPL Lager hit the bar @ 4:00PM, the DIPA hits the taps as well. Get your asses down for some de-wishes beer!

Our latest Double IPA hits the taps Wednesday, April 16th @ 4:00 PM.

Created with a nod to John Kimmich and team at Alchemist, brewers of Heady Topper: the mighty Thulsa Doom spawned from the dregs of a tiny little can of Heady Topper.

The Conan yeast strain (VPB1188 known simply as 'Conan') is highly sought after and regarded for it's intensely fruity, apricot-like ester production and powerful fermentations. We thought we'd have a time brewing up a DIPA with it, and a time we had.

Local homebrewer and Brewnoser Rob Shortt harvested the yeast from a can of the deliciously hoppy Vermont-born brew, cultured it up to a 2 L starter and ran it across the harbour delivering it straight into my hands. I continued the mission, nurturing and feeding the beast until multiplied into a very healthy and concentrated 50 L starter for the main batch of Thulsa. Fast forward through several weeks of dry-hopping and conditioning, now we drink!

IBUs ~100+ (Calculated)
Malts - Pale Ale, Crystal 15, Dextrin
Hops - Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial, Chinook
Hop Rate - 6.8 lbs/bbl
SRM ~ 4.7

Have a good evening everyone. I would have loved to come down and try the Galaxy dry hopped beer and also the conan DIPA since I'm brewing my beer with conan now. It was supposed to be freezing rain and stuff so I planned not to go, but the weather is beautiful here ATM. I read mixed reports on using Galaxy for dry hopping, some say it really isn't good, and others say it is. I absolutely love Galaxy, so I'd like to know if it's good or not. My inclination is to dry hop with it, and I think it would be really good.

Please report back ...Greg, are you happy with them?

Enjoy gents. Wife doesn't get home until 6:30-7 every night. Jealous I can't attend. I want to try that DIPA, hoping to possibly make it in on Friday. Anyone know if this is for sale by the Growler?

Good turnout last night - about 10 of us in total. That Conan DIPA is delish. I will be picking up a growler for the weekend!

Teh fearkinator is......

Fathom IPA, dry-hopped with Simcoe only.

It was pulled from the fermenter before the main batch was dry-hopped.
