Re: May 16: Nova Scotia FULL HOUSE Craft Beer Fest
We've seen this sort of thing time after time, though. There's no benefit to anybody to make membership in these kinds of organizations difficult for their target membership. Sure, the "craft brewers" (of anywhere), need to make it difficult for the AB-InBev, Molson-Coors, etc, to join, or they're not a craft beer association; but if you charge a membership fee that is unreachable for new businesses that are already expecting to lose money for a couple of years, or you make rules that explicitly exclude recognizably "craft" breweries, you don't "improve the atmosphere". That's what happened with the VQA wines. The Canadian wine industry, which at the time was BC & Ontario, recognized the need to create a standard for wines: and they did a good job of it, but then BC & Ontario banded together to ensure that nobody else can ever be "VQA". Now VQA is an almost meaningless distinction.chalmers wrote: I'm certainly no shill for "big" NS Craft Beer, but I do see the benefit of an association of breweries trying to improve the atmosphere in our province. Whether this is that association, I don't know.

I agree that Seaport is like that - we found that the noon session was a bit too early for us make it. We are hoping that since it's not an "all inclusive" that it may be a bit tamer in the evening as well. The model worked great for Brewers Bash, although that was a 12 hour session.derek wrote:Marta and I will be at the noon session. We usually find fewer power drinkers at the early sessions...

I'm still looking for one ticket to the noon session. If successful, I'll have two tickets for the 4pm session.

Beer is in the running for the healthiest of all alcoholic beverages. It has antibiotic, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. It has been proven that drinking up to 3 beers a day decreases your risk of heart disease by around 30% and it also lowers your risk of getting diseases like diabetes. Beer is also chock full of important vitamins and minerals that you need to survive.

So is anyone unable to attend the afternoon session that would be willing to sell a ticket to the Dirt Chicken?

Re: May 16: Nova Scotia FULL HOUSE Craft Beer Fest
Afternoon session was a great time. Standout beers for me included:
• Big Spruce Crazy Ivan DIPA and Silver Tart and Tim's Dirty (which I finally got to try after a year of chasing it). Big Spruce pretty much has it going on, yo.
• Hell Bay's RIPA is awesome (don't know what version this is but its way better than v1 and v2 that I had at Stilwell last year)
• Rock Bottom Fathom is pretty close to what it was in Nash's last days. Still needs a bit of work on the malt side but the hopping was great. I didn't get one but the people I was with say the Rock Bottom session beer was excellent.
• Good Robot's gose is way better than it has any right to be.
• Paddy's Raven Ale. Could be surfing on a nostalgia tip because it was my favorite when I lived in the valley 10 years ago.
• lemon water at the Brewnosers table. Seriously. Why there's not water pitchers to rinse glasses is beyond me. Kudos to Chris and Sandy and Angelina and Liam for manning the booth and providing relief!
From the for I only really saw Chalmers, Angesponge, CorneliusAlphonse and Liverdance but Chris says Hogie was there and referenced a few other Brewnosers. We should develop a secret handshake or something

I had the Ivan and yes it is very good. Meander Lunch Pale was very good too. I should have given my glass to Aaron, damn.mumblecrunch wrote:• Big Spruce Crazy Ivan DIPA and Silver Tart and Tim's Dirty (which I finally got to try after a year of chasing it).

Todd, Josh, Jeff P, Ruby, Dirt Chicken and Pet Lion also there. I'm sure I am missing some.
Nice event.

I had the Meander River but right after the Silver Tart so I think it lost a little. Again, another reason they should have had water at every station (wine shows do this).GAM wrote: I had the Ivan and yes it is very good. Meander Lunch Pale was very good too. And I did see Peter (pet lion) but didn't get the chance to say hello and Todd (whom I've technically never met) roaming around.
It was a good event all things considered. One real positive I noted was despite joking with my wife about heading off to a sausage fest it was easily 30% female attendance. 10 or even 5 years ago I'm sure that would not have been the case. Got my wife a sweet Ladies Beer League t-shirt too despite her general dislike of beer

Re: May 16: Nova Scotia FULL HOUSE Craft Beer Fest
We had a great time at the 4-7pm session. The Brewnoser display looked steady all afternoon with Chris, Jeff and Shawn manning the booth. Appeared to be lots of interest with a few new users and soon to be users getting in on the conversations.
Standout Beer's for me:
Big Spruce Silver Tart, Northern Bight and Tim's Dirty all great as expected with Silver Tart being the standout. Never got the chance to have Crazy Ivan.
Good Robot Gose - maybe not quite to style, but definitely something I'd go back for, especially as a summer patio beer. Burban Legend was good, but missed something for me.
Both offerings from Tatamagouche were good, Heavy Hooves DIPA and the lager.
My expectations were higher for the "Pucker Up" Apricot Saison from Garrison - with a name like Pucker Up, I was looking for something with a bit or tartness. Don't get me wrong, the beer was good, just didn't live up to its name.
