I guess I owe you admission after Saturday evening :drunk:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I just sent them an e-mail for some tickets.
Join Us for the First…

Prop’r Cask Night!

Join us for some cask-conditioned brew at our first Prop’r Cask Night at Propeller Brewing Company on Friday July 27, from 6pm – 8 pm. We’ll be pairing the surprise one-off brew alongside some fine local food courtesy of Harbour City Bar and Grill.

Prop’r Cask Night is a casual and intimate event that allows our brewers to get creative and celebrate traditional brewing methods. It’s also chance for us to share a glass of our latest creation with our friends, supporters, local community and fellow beer lovers.

One of our brewers will unveil and lead the ceremonious tapping of the cask at approximately 6:30pm and will be around to answer all your questions about unfiltered, unpasteurized cask-conditioned beer.

For those who have not been to the brewery before, this is a great chance to meet the folks behind the scenes and to tour our facility and enjoy some great Nova Scotia Craft Beer.

How to get on the Cask Night Guest List:

Do you want to be one of the 40 lucky beer lovers at our first Cask Night? If so, email Tracy at Promotions@drinkpropeller.ca and stop by the brewery to purchase your prepaid tickets. Tickets cost $15.00 in advance, or $20.00 at the door. We’ve got 40 spots to fill on a first come/first serve basis.

Cask Night includes a sampling our brands, a taste of the Cask and an appetizer selection from a great local restaurant.

We could fill the place with 40 people. Maybe we should ask them to do a Brewnosers night.

Seems like a cool event and a good idea, but I can't commit to planning that far ahead (especially in the summer).. too bad there is only 40 spots (will probably fill up fast).

Well it's possible that closer to the event someone may not be able to go and you could buy tickets from them!

Just saw on FB that they are down to their last 4 tix. Looks like it will sell out. I'm emailing them now for a pair, but my plans could change and they might be up for grabs.

So, it's this Friday. I've got my tickets, and it looks like Jayme does too. Anyone else going?
6pm, and food being served, so it looks like no need for a meal beforehand. Might need one afterwards, however.

Is Jeff going as well? It's kind of a shame there were only 40 tickets available but at the same time, I don't think they could realistically hold any more. Should be a good night though!

As I said before, we should ask them to do a Brewnoser night. Anyone with contacts there care to propose this to them?

Well that was a blast. Wish more of you folks were there, but I understand there were a few Brewnosers besides Jeff. I only know a few of you by your face. It was so hot and muggy in there that,to be honest, the cask IPA was not really the best beer for the situation. I drank more Pilsener than Cask. Either way, the cask beer was super intense. The aroma was all citrus and floral, but it had this ridiculously rich flavour that I had trouble putting my finger (tongue?) on. It was almost meaty, and also kind of like dope. An oily, resinous, rich vegetal (but not green) flavour. Jeff said that was the Simcoe. I found it a bit much - almost nauseatingly rich - in that hot sweaty room, but it was a taste experience, for sure. Glad I came down.

I enjoyed the cask a lot, loved the food (braised beef sliders and bacon-wrapped monkfish).
The room was horribly hot and humid, needed more air movement or a/c.
Great conversations with Les (Executive Chef at Harbour City Grill) and Andrew (from Propeller).

Yeah the heat was nearly unbearable and really wasn't the right situation for the cask - it was well done (except the tapping haha), but hopefully they get some air moving next time.

Not sure if anyone asked about a brewnosers night but I would suggest waiting until the fall...

Ok, you and Jeff were there, and you couldn't identify the brewnosers in a room with 40 sold tickets.....

 Jeff knew them, but I didn't. I'm not really a Brewnoser - I quit homebrewing years ago and I'm a NBer now - so that's a herring choker, right? Anyway, yes, I did chat with some of them.
