Re: Hoptoberfest food
Tim, do it! Those were great.
I need to figure out what to make/bring. Somebody tell me what to make using these Roma tomatoes from my plant out front!
I can use the peppers too (actually need to figure out what to do with those too.. will post in pepper thread).

We're probably good for food now I think. Probably too much actually. Tim, Shelly would like some of those tomatoes I'm sure.

Ha, well I might make something with them (salsa..?), but if I get lazy/busy I'll just bring some of the tomatoes!

Is there anything else we need then? Besides, beer, obviously. Ice, napkins?mr x wrote:We're probably good for food now I think. Probably too much actually. Tim, Shelly would like some of those tomatoes I'm sure.

Yes, maybe some plates and cutlery and napkins? I believe we'll have ice under control.amartin wrote: Is there anything else we need then? Besides, beer, obviously. Ice, napkins?

Re: Hoptoberfest food
I made a roasted tomato-basil soup last week and used the leftovers for pasta sauce. Friggin' delicious! Oven roasted halved tomatoes along with some chopped onion & garlic with olive oil. Threw them in the slow cooker for the day with a bit of wine and some chicken broth. Added some dried thyme, s&p, fresh chopped basil and blitzed with the immersion blender.TimG wrote:Ha, well I might make something with them (salsa..?), but if I get lazy/busy I'll just bring some of the tomatoes!

I was wondering how best to transport food, but since I can't even think what to bring I guess I can cover the plates and/or napkins.

If you're still planning on travelling down with me, I'll likely be bringing a cooler with me since I'm bringing guacamole.mgc wrote:I was wondering how best to transport food, but since I can't even think what to bring I guess I can cover the plates and/or napkins.

How about a couple of those stick in the ground yard candles instead? We could use some lighting for later.mgc wrote:I was wondering how best to transport food, but since I can't even think what to bring I guess I can cover the plates and/or napkins.

Re: Hoptoberfest food
Sure! If Jeff has room in the car. I am also ok with making something tasty. I just have had a busy week and haven't made any plans for anything tasty yet. I was leaning towards a smoked pumpkin pie with a malted crust and hopped whipped cream, but I have heard mixed things about hopping toppings.mr x wrote:How about a couple of those stick in the ground yard candles instead? I'll bring lighting, I'm now driving up on my own.
X, are you thinking this sort of thing. I fear the citronella might affect our sense of taste, but I have never used one of these.

Haha you think after drinking all afternoon you'll have taste buds left by the time it gets dark?mgc wrote: I fear the citronella might affect our sense of taste, but I have never used one of these.

Is there anything I can pick up? Ice/more plates/napkins/cups/anything along those lines?

Re: Hoptoberfest food
I ended up finding 10 Canada day citronella candles on sale at CT, so I'll bring those along.
I won't be available until lunch-ish for the ice crew. Sorry.
