Need to come up with a good name for the Alberta chapter of the Brewnosers, but hosted the first meeting last night at my place in Calgary. A promising turn out of 4 people (including myself)! :? Ok, ok.. not a big crowd but it was great to meet a couple of local homebrewers (Jeff and Damon) that have been in the area for a while. Jamie (sleepyjamie) and I preached the simplicity of the Brewnosers (join the forum, post some.. go to a meeting or event, or meet up at a pub.. simple) so hopefully we can grow these meetings and informal get-togethers.

Lots of homebrews were tasted, actually I think we only tried one commercial beer all night. Lots of variations (Jeff has tried different variations of 'wort in a bag' kits with good success). The PEI barrel porter was a big hit as well.

Easily the best beer of the night was this one that Jamie imported from Saskatchewan;

:lol: Actually, we all agreed it was easily the worst beer we've ever had! :barf2: It got poured quite quickly.

So thanks for coming out Jeff and Damon (and Jamie.. but you were sorta obliged, ha). Hopefully they'll join the forum in the near future.

The Albrewtans?
The Alegareans?
The Alebertans?
The Albeertans?

And fuck that is the worst looking "bottle" of beer I've ever seen.

Tim, you should also check out http://www.canadianhomebrewers.com/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as well as there are a few Calgarians on that forum. A close friend of mine (his name is Wayne and goes by Swivel on that forum) lives in Calgary and is an avid AG brewer. Just a thought to try and grow your local club out there.

Nice start on the names Hogie! The gears are turning..

Thanks Shane, I'll check them out and look up Wayne. Just looking to get a few more folks out in informal 'meetings', BBQs, meeting up at pubs.. all the same shit we do in the maritimes, ha.
