Ladies Beer League Cask Event (not just for gals)

Post by Brewnoser » Wed Oct 09, 2013 11:05 am

The Ladies Beer League is delighted to present Halifax's first Cask Beer Festival at Halifax's newest Craft Beer Bar - The Stubborn Goat! Featuring unique, one-off, cask-conditioned ales from seven different maritime craft breweries, this event is open to all beer lovers. So ladies, bring some men, and men, bring some ladies!

Join us for the afternoon (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) or evening session (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) on Sunday, November 17th and meet our regions finest craft brewers.

The $35.00 ticket includes 7 oz. samples of each cask and a chance to vote for the 2013 Cask-of-the-year!

Partial proceeds from each ticket will go to the Ladies Beer League to help us continue to host kick-ass craft beer events around Nova Scotia!

Food and additional drinks will be available for purchase from our friends at The Stubborn Goat.

For those new to Cask-conditioned beer, you can expect an unfiltered, unpasturized ale that is traditionally fermented inside the cask. It's smooth, flavourful and gives the brewers an opportunity to have some fun!

Tickets go on sale Sunday at Noon at https://lblcaskfest.eventbrite.ca/?nomo=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:welcome:

If you think of it, ask them if they ever want to do a brewing demo.

Just for clarification.. does the ticket include seven 7-oz samples (one sample from each brewery's cask), or is it more like the Seaport Beerfest where you can continue to sample until it's all gone? Either way, it sounds great!

She says they have three homebrew related events in planning now. I made a joke about homebrew shop and local microbrewery people's skillz. Pissed her off a bit. :pow:

Chalmers interview with the Ladies on the Cask Event details: http://atlanticcanadabeerblog.wordpress ... mber-17th/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm still hoping to attend (I see tickets are running low) and I think it's a good start, even if Cask "FEST" is a bit too strong a word.

On the downside:
Part of our agreement with The Goat was that we would only approach craft breweries that the gastropub had already developed a relationship.
This doesn't concern me about the event, but it's a big red flag for the Goat. They should be open to new relationships no matter how they get initiated. Being open to new things and going beyond single suppliers is how places like Volo (and hopefully Stillwell in the future) build their reputations and selections. Not shutting down potential new things.

Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

I'm only speculating, but I think they started with the list of brewers/beer currently available in house, and were going to go beyond if they didn't get enough interest. They are only taking over the top floor, so not enough room for 100 people and 20 casks.
