I'll post pictures of my three tiered system sometime. It's custom made, with a cooler, keggle and some pots and a kent burner. I can't bring it though, not without a pickup truck.

They are running with the partial grain kits they sell. Still a great opportunity for those wanting to move up from festa, or get into it for their first time.

Cool stuff... sadly, I also recently emptied my last keg, so I won't be able to offer any samples

Will this be the first official meeting of the Pictou County chapter?

yeah, haven't brewed in a while so doing a quick 5 gallon methinks, unless someone wants to collaborate

I've received several requests for my address via PM, so I think we'll have a nice turnout. As I'll be able to do the three-vessel brew, and CA is running the propane BIAB, I don't think the e-BIAB is necessary. If someone else wants to run it, they're welcome.

Feel free to bring homebrew to share, there'll be some on tap, as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, drop by anytime after 10.

Happy Brewing Day everyone.

My butterscotch pudding beer cleared up and isn't bad, not one of my very best. I used BRY-97 for first time, and I think I lost a lot of my usual hop flavours. I might bring some along for critical analysis. Meeting friends for lunch in HFX, and have Kathleen and Max, but hoping to drop in some time.

Bah I'm called into work. Need to sit this one out. Hopefully Dave runs one out at Everwood once he is back.

Thanks! ;)

It's raining now, so we and the laptop are inside now. About an hour left in the boil, so things are proceeding nicely. Boiling water to sanitize the chiller and hoses now.

We had to bail - Alex's attention span finished up after a couple hours. Good to see a couple of new faces.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Brewday complete!
Ustream was a bit of a dud, with the Crappy weather, and crappy wifi, there was only a short time outside, the rest of the time it was pointed at my chair or light.
Ended up with 40L of 1.048 Nut Brown, and 20L of Zombie Dust IPA clone. Only a couple of mishaps: near-miss on pumping Sparge water on CA, and a full on head hit on my deck light. Besides that, excellent!

The inside. There's a silicon gasket inside the larger washer, then there's two layers of gasket material

I was thinking of getting some food grade silicon since I have to get some for the electric controller build anyway. I'll use that to fill around the nipple, unless anyone sees a downside to that?

Thanks Chris and Liam, for demonstrating your brewing gear. Thanks Chris & Erin (?sp.) for the hospitality and the beer. Nice to see you again Nick, Kathleen thought little Ellie was adorable. Keith I was hoping to meet you... change jobs! your job is getting in the way of your brewing.... get your priorities right man! :)

Enjoyed it. Especially talking beer with you guys.

Thanks for coming and bringing the family, Mark. Erin at first though Max and Ellie were brother and sister. :)

Great talking beer, drinking beer, making beer. Hope we showed that doing a full mash and/or BIAB is not that much of a time sink compared to partial mashing, but that the method allows exact tuning of your recipe to your tastes and desires. BIAB and 3-vessel were both done within 4 hours (well, the Nut Brown had a 90-min boil, so it was just over 4).

Cheers!
