There goes my plan of sleeping on the coach. Guess I'll bring my sleeping bag and sleep in the ditch. ahha.chalmers wrote:I need to amend my offer slightly, I can't make a night of it, but don't have to kick everyone out till 4 or 5.
But yea 4 or 5 is ideal. if were sampling throughout the day I don't see or lasting longer than that anyways.

Re: Learn to Homebrew Day - Saturday, November 2, 2013
It'll be at my place November 2nd, PM me for details, but I think you're in the know.
I'll probably have my electric BIAB setup on the go, and there should be one or two more brews happening at the same time. My pot is just a turkey fryer, so nothing as fancy as Rubbertoe's setup.
A friend of mine who is currently only doing Festa Brews is planning on coming, and would love to split a batch if someone wanted to brew up a double one. Any volunteers?
My BIAB won't have enough volume to share (though I could it all to him if no one else is able to split).
Also, we should start talking timing. Something like 10am start sound reasonable?
DDs are encouraged, or ask them to drop you then come back later. I've got plenty of homebrew to share, and folks are welcome to bring theirs for sharing and/or critical analysis.

Chris, Thanks for the nice invitation and for organising this.chalmers wrote:DDs are encouraged, or ask them to drop you then come back later. I've got plenty of homebrew to share, and folks are welcome to bring theirs for sharing and/or critical analysis.
After a late night last night, I was a bit dozy this morning, more dozy than usual any way, and I couldn't figure out what DDs meant and was trying to figure out who I could bring along....Drunken Dipso's, Dependant Drunks, Women with a certain bra size....? or all of the above.
I'd really like to see Rubbertoe's electric setup, now you have been talking it up. Would you be able to bring it along Rubbertoe just for people to look at?
Chris, What do you think about people bringing along brewing equipment for an I'll show you mine if you show me yours section of the event?

As I was typing DD, I figured it might get some comments.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to bring their gear, but I know some are more transportable than others. Unfortunately, mine is probably the most transportable, so it doesn't help that I'm hosting.
I believe Rubbertoe's panel is bolted to his wall, so moving it won't be terribly easy.
After the success of the ustream for the AHA Big brew and Hoptoberfest, we'll be sure to do the same again this time, weather permitting (aka, it's safe to bring my laptop outside).

FYI - RubberToe's electric brewery build is pretty well documented somewhere on the site - just can't find it from my phone at the moment.GuingesRock wrote:

Jamie and I might be doing a demo with the Yeast Wranglers the same day actually. Likely a double BIAB hybrid of Jamie's American Brown.

I am in for sure. I have wanted to make the jump to AG Biab for a while and bought my burner from Kent yesterday.

I'm driving in from Lower Sackville with my young guy (my brewer in training). I'm only sticking around for an hour or so (or as long as my 10 year old's attention span lasts). Can't promise I'll be there for the start.

Sounds great guys.
CA: I've been told that my 4 or 5 deadline has been extended, so we no longer have to start at 9am. What would be a reasonable time, 10 or 11?
I'll see if my super-awesome neighbour will give up his 3-tier system for the day so we can demo that as well, as I think some folks would find that educational too.

Hmm, I'm good whenever - but the people learning should probably see at least one mash in, so that they get the whole process - I'll aim to be there for 10 and we can go from there?

CA: sounds great.
HH: if it makes it, the 3-tier is homemade from keggles and cooler. Stand also home-made/commissioned, not a Blichmann.
