August meeting - Tuesday Aug 12

Post by mikeorr » Sun Aug 03, 2014 5:59 pm

Figured I'd start a thread for the next monthly meetup; anyone willing to host?

My wife had surgery on Friday and she's looking at a 6-8 week recovery. She's doing as well as can be expected but I likely won't be attending this month's meeting.

Beer is in the running for the healthiest of all alcoholic beverages. It has antibiotic, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. It has been proven that drinking up to 3 beers a day decreases your risk of heart disease by around 30% and it also lowers your risk of getting diseases like diabetes. Beer is also chock full of important vitamins and minerals that you need to survive.

Mike and Jeramy,

I can bring some home-brews if I can score a lift out there.

I'm planning on attending for the first time. I've had it in mind that I'd make a real attempt at making it to the meeting in August. I'm driving from downtown Halifax. Still need a lift, Peter?

With any luck, the weather will hold and we can make this an outdoor tasting.

Thanks anyway. I'll be showing up sometime after the little ones get settled. Not sure what I have for offerings, I haven't made anything new in a while. I'll pour off something or other.

Great turnout of 10 Brewnosers, including a new face at a meeting, a great selection of commercial brews, some matching cheeses, and an impressive home brew offering. A great night for SackVegas!

There were a couple of growler bags left behind - Mondial de la Biere and a blue one. I'll throw them in the car for the grain pickup.

Good stuff! Nice to see meetings happening off the peninsula.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? Thanks for hosting Derrick. Beer, snacks, and company were great.

Great to see y'all again, and for the first time. Bread and cheeses were excellent, great pairings.

And thanks for the crash course in grilling, Derek, looking forward to getting some more goodies to tend the fire. And maybe that'll get my lump-bag-rate up approaching yours. ;)
