NS Craftbeer Week: Learn to BrewDay - May 9th

Hey Guys,
I don't know if I can completely run with this solo (busy time of year at work, and on call), but would like to co-coordinate with a few people. Let's try and find a few DT venues where Water and potentially shelter is available. Look at getting a few sponsors. Due to the size of what is taking place and really the general over all interest, I think it would be best to get a team of say 6-8 to partake this way we can answer any questions and the brewer isn't completely overwhelmed while brewing.
Do we have any Brewnosers banners, flyers, or handouts from past events? Who would be interested in running with this? Who's a great public speaker? Maybe do this at the same location the comp is being judged? Maybe have the comp and brew day together? All open for ideas and suggestions.
Brewnosers Team
Keith
Brewing Methods
All Grain (BIAB)
Partial Grain
Instant Kit (Festabrew or similar)
Potential Event Sponsors:
Local Brew Shop(s) - Setup to sell on site /w some great deals to entice people to move over.
TBD
Location(s)
TBD
-----------
I'd be interested in doing various levels of Brewing. Boxed and ready to pitch yeast, Partial grain, and all grain. I'd be willing to work with either vendor, however it may be an opportunity for those 2 to work together and really represent the NS home brewing scene.

Well that makes 2 of us. I remember seeing Noble Grapes how to brew day, they had a huge turnout, definitely need more than 2 people.

Yea lets see if we can get a descent sized team together for the Learn to brew stuffs. Would be nice to have a experienced team that could answer questions and have a homebrew store available with hardware\kits, etc incase anyone is interested in jumping right in.

Also, this doesn't have to be done the same weekend as judging. May 2 is National Homebrew Day in America, so why not join in with your seminars?

If Craft Beer Week doesn't work out, National Homebrew Day is an option. May 2

May 2nd would probably be ideal to run in sync with the aha.

I think finding a venue for the learn 2 brew day would be nice. It's difficult to get non-brewnosers out to someone's house for a learn 2 brew day.
Edit: Just looked at the learn 2 brew thread and finding a venue is mentioned.

I was trying to think about this yesterday and couldn't really come up with anything. It would be nice to do one outside of one of the breweries in town, but I'm doubtful we'd be able to work something out.

Large enough to run a couple setups and put up a tent if weather is poor. Would also need water for the chillers.

Corny and I, with the help of a few others, ran a successful
learn to homebrew day last fall. I can offer up my yard, canopy, gear etc. again.

And I also still have our Brewnosers canopy which still should be in excellent condition, and is actually looking for a new home, if required.

I think we need to venture out of our backyards with this one. It's very intimidating for a non-brewnoser to walk into someones yard with a bunch of people they don't know. A commercial location, community center, or something like that would be ideal.

Agreed. Especially if we can get this in with the CBW events. Make it legit and get more advertising.

I don't exactly believe the brewnosers have a advertising budget. I think the brew day may be best put on by a brew shop in partnership with the club.

I meant that by getting in with CBW we can get free advertising/more interest via sm just by association.

No luck on finding a venue for this. Does someone want to run with the learn to brew day and host it at their place?

I think we can do more digging on a venue. Someones place should be the last resort.

Just an FYI, though the schedule hasn't been released yet, I understand that the Open Brewery Day for the Craft Beer Week is May 9th. From what I understand, they'll be encouraging member breweries to open their door and have folks visit for tours and events at the breweries. I'm not sure if that will mean breweries may be brewing their own on that day, or would want to host us for a brewday, or what exactly. Just wanted that pass it along.

Yea probably not best to double book on open brewery day. Plus I'd like to get out to one or two.
The other date proposed of May 2nd/3rd I'll be travelling for work (looks like I'm driving to Mass) so I'm unfortunately out for that.
Anyone want to step in and run /w a learn to brew day on May 2nd or 3rd?

I think open brew day is perfect if you van swing it. The brewery advertises something special about theirs, an event, and you have an interested audience. Including people that may not have come otherwise.

I think it would be more about the brewery allowing us to brew on their premises, I think it would take more focus away from the brewery
