My neighbours keep asking me when I'm going to have "another one of those beer parties", in reference to Hoptoberfest. Because they can't wait until the fall we've decided to host a Summer Alefest (lagers are welcome too) with a similar format at my place in west end Halifax. In order to work with their vacation schedule and not conflict with the Pictou Lobster Carnival we've chosen July 18 as the date.

If you plan to come please use the sign up sheet to indicate how many of you there will be and what you'll be bringing. Bring your own food to eat or share and I'll have the barbecue out for cooking. Donations to cover the cost of the propane would be appreciated. A team to locate and pick up ice is needed. I'll look into what cutlery, plates, cups, napkins, etc. remains from last Hoptoberfest and decide if we need more.

I'm also working on entertainment, so stay tuned for an announcement (no, it won't be performing lobsters).

Sure you can. I had my latest batch of Berliner Weisse kegged on day 7

It actually turned out a lot better than the previous one as well.

My friends are visiting from out of town that weekend, but I may be able to pop in. Might even bring a growler of something special.

YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH summer homebrew fest!

Two weeks to go. Is anyone else interested in attending this? I'll scale down the effort if it's just a few of us.

I'm out of province for a family reunion

We have a band of unknown name willing play around 7 or 8 p.m. until 10. I'm told they play old fashioned roots music, with a Honky Tonk kick, and that it's good.

They will play for beer and tips. I know we'll have enough of the former but not whether there's enough interest for the latter.

We have a ice machine we can grab ice from early on sat. If you want to drive to sackville with a few coolers.

I'll clear it with facilities, just let me know.

I could do it but I'd prefer not to be driving around the day of the event. Can someone else pick up the ice?

I can't make it to Sackville but I don't mind buying a couple of bags of ice at Superstore and bringing them over.

I'm just seeing this now. I will likely be there. Just figuring out what I'll bring and all of that.
