Brewnosers 30th anniversary

Post by mikeorr » Sun Feb 28, 2016 2:16 pm

I realized earlier this week that 2016 marks 30 years of the Brewnosers. I was thinking it would be nice if we put on a special event (or two).

Learn To Homebrew Day is an obvious one, but it's also not until Nov 5th - it would be nice to have something in the summer?

Another idea is perhaps approaching a local brewery that has bottling ability to do special Brewnosers release?

I split off the May 7th event from this thread. A proper 30th Anniversary event should have all of us in one place, I figure!

I bet Good Robot would be willing to host a Brewnosers tap takeover. We'd just need to agree on a lineup, coordinate with Josh and brew on their Sabco.

If good robot wants to do a brewnosers tap takeover I am super down. I would love to rebrew the special bitter I made when I got my grainfather.

We could do it the same way the stillwell open is happening with homebrewers. We could get multiple breweries to host a homebrewer and then have a tap takeover day at GR
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

That'd be great.

Edit* maybe this could done as a comp. GR picks a 4 or 5 different styles and the winners all get brewed there and featured.
On tap: Hopped Mead, ESB, Schwazbier
Coming up: Altbier
Fermenting: Maibock
Planned: NEIPA, NZ Pils, Oyster Stout

We've definitely been considering this. 6 taps, 6 homebrews or something in that light. Summer might be tough... Beer sales skyrocket and we'll be so busy just keeping up with demand. However, around August, maybe we can start brewing batch after batch on the Sabco.

Let me know. josh [at] goodrobotbrewing [dot] ca

I'd try to talk the other two original foundered into coming. One would be easy as he sometimes shows up now (Chris Feetham) but isn't active on here at all. The other, Howard Allen, still likes beer bug I don't think he brews - he's into bagpipes. Hey - maybe I'll ask him to play! Haha.
