May 14th - Full House Beer Fest - Brewnosers Table
NS Craft Beer Week 2016 runs May 6-14, with several of the events showcasing the local homebrewing scene, and current (and former) homebrewers.
Open Brewery Day falls on National Homebrew Day, May 7th, and many of us are setting up our gear at local breweries, to highlight the fact that many commercial brewers began life brewing at home.
The Stillwell Open (May 8th) will feature beers from no less than 8 homebrewers.
The Full House Beer Fest, the culmination of the week, will feature the breweries who are part of the Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia, and we've been asked to attend again this year. Last year, we had a great spread of homebrewing gear from local homebrewers and homebrew shops. Despite being a bit out of the way on the second floor, we were busy the whole time, with beer fans dropping by to see what we were all about. We were serving some carbed lemon-water, a nice palate cleanser between beers. This year, as the venue has changed to the Cunard Centre, we will be on the show floor, and I expect there will be even more interest.
I'm looking for volunteers to hang out at the booth, and talk homebrew, beer, and life in general to folks who come by for a look. We will have two 6ft tables, and so lots of room to set up some brewing gear (heck, if someone was feeling ambitious, we could even brew, as we could have access to 120V), a jockey box, maybe a laptop slideshow, etc? I welcome your ideas! We should aim for 3-4 people per session (1-4pm and 6-9pm), which will give folks a chance to take breaks and enjoy the beers, while 2-3 people are at the booth. I could use some help setting up before the afternoon session, and tearing down after the evening session.
If you're interested, let me know!

Sounds like fun! Pencil me in. If it is done in time, we could set up my 30 gal system. There won't be enough juice to turn it on though!

Awesome, thanks folks! We've got room for 1 or 2 more, I reckon.
Any ideas for what to put on the tables? I can ask a local homebrew shop for a variety of ingredients to spread out for a demo, and could maybe even bring my turkey fryer, or better yet would be a Grainfather setup.

Great, I'll add you to the afternoon session! Let's move one of the afternooners to the evening to even out numbers. KB/Kevin, you OK with that?mackay85 wrote:love to join in the afternoon session! i plan to attend the event that evening. Would be more than happy to lend a hand with set-up as well.
And yes, hoping that the afternoon folks can help with setup, and evening folks can help with tear down. To not bother the rest of the board, I'll start an email discussion about the logistics of the day.

I can do the evening.
I can bring my water cooler mash tun if you'd like that for display.

Chris,
I just got my tickets for the morning session, if you'd like I can bring some display products from NG (maybe even the grainfather once I ask for permission) or even some of my own gear.
Need any other display items?
Blichmann burner maybe?
15gal OBK pot?
Grains/hops?
Just let me know if we can be of any help.

Hey folks, anyone up for volunteering to stand at the table during the 1:30-4 session? We'd need you there by 1.
Will be there with three other keen folks, chatting with the public about us and homebrewing. You will be able to rotate in and out of the table, and drink some beer, within moderation, no ticket payment required. Please EMAIL me (or text if you've got it). McDonald(dot)chris(at)gmail(dot)com

Thanks folks, we've got a volunteer!
Those of you going to either session, be sure to drop by and say hey, grab some ice tea or lemon/lime water (non-alc) to clean your palate between beers. And TimGr has made some treats for your four-, and probably two-, legged friends.

Just pulled a sample of the Sweet Tea. Not bad for the first attempt at it. I think I'm going to keep it on tap for the summer!

Curious, How was the response from the crowd this year? I stopped by for a minute but had arrived late to the afternoon session and only had so much sampling time. Looked like a great display. Kudos to all involved!

Sean, it went well the lemon water and sweet tea were a hit. People were interested in the ingredients and process. There were some brewers looking to move to grain.
