Hard to find Grains

Post by Dirt Chicken » Sat Feb 25, 2012 4:47 pm

Hey just thought to check if anyone would be able to part with a Kg or 2 of "Special B malt, and Carafa III "
I can't get this stuff through NG right now, and I guess someone came in and bought the last of their Special B a few weeks back.

Willing to either buy or trade for Golden Promise.

Cheers!!

I don't have any to trade, but I know the Carafa III is available on special order. I think it takes them a week or so to get it in.

As for the special B, I don't know if they've had that for quite a while. Brewers Pantry has it though, and they take about a week for delivery. I've ordered hops through them and haven't had a problem http://brewerspantry.com/index.php?rout ... uct_id=136" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope that helps a bit if no one here is any help.

I've got our NCM special b substitute, as well as the blackprinz, which is a good sub for Carafa III iirc. If you are interested, let me know

I don't need any grain in return. I'll just work out the cost, won't be much.

I think the munich 120?/240? is the SB sub. Check the catalogue. And root around for info on the Breiss Blackprinz, they have good info on their home site IIRC.

I'm interested, looks like the Blackprinz will work alright, and some special b sub. I was interested in making a Black IPA, not sure if I will be able to today due to not having those grains but when might I be able to snag some ?

1lb of each would be awesome, and enough that I might experiment with a few recipes!!

I could spare a little :) I use it instead of Carafa III.

That substitute for special b is likely Caramel Munich 120 which is a crystal malt :cheers2:

Change of plans at this end. I have to work an overtime shift tomorrow, so I won't be up until later Wednesday night (hopefully, depending on the storm). I hope this doesn't mess up your schedule.

Next time I am in the city I'll give you a PM, if you still have some then I would love to grab a little. I plan on making a Schwarzbier so I probably don't need a whole lot, but I don't have a recipe yet.

Yeah sure but I don't have Special B or the Caramel Munich 120.

I stock crystal 150 which isn't the same but reasonably close :cheers2:
