The seller clearly doesn't know how to use keywords in his ad. I emailed him to ask if he will sell separately, and will post response. He's in Tatamagouche.

I'm curious if anyone has actually seen this ad. He doesn't use any of the normal keywords (beer, keg, homebrew). I found it doing a search for "stainless steel".

I've found deals like this buy searching for different words. (beer, keg, kegs, co2, pepsi, coke, etc) I even found a 10 gal corny keg on there by searching "cooker". was looking for an outdoor propane cooker and typed it in...buddy had it listed as a pressure cooker as he was using it to make "other stuff".

Those Melvicos are rare and coveted items. I picked up one for $100 with a bunch of extra hoses and disconnects. But I'm not sure this person (as with many other Kijijiers) has a grasp of what the market will bear....

Here is what sent as a reply to the ad:

"I"m interested but I need more information. What are the sizes of the CO2 cylinders? Do they have current hydro tests? Do they have any gas in them? What do you have for hoses and fittings? Is the Melvico system complete? "

And here is his reply:

"Hello! The cylinders are 50 lbs. the test was done one year ago, they are empty, there is one regulator and all the fittings are there and the Melvico system is complete...Two of the cylinders were full but they were shipped from Newfoundland and they had to be shipped empty. Thank you....Mike"

There are 3 cylinders, 4 kegs, the Melvico system (with hoses and extra filters) and a capper and corker.

If anyone is interested let me know and perhaps we can put together a group buy. I'm not really interested, although I would pay $20 each for the kegs, and perhaps another $20 for the wine corker. Let me know, and if it develops into something perhaps I'll make an offer.

Those are 20lb tanks...just sayin..might help for negotiating prices

I need a co2 cylinder and regulator and I'm relatively close to where this stuff is. I don't really know what a 50lb cylinder is worth though.

No, Jmac is saying those are 20lb. I agree, they are the same size as mine, unless everything else in that picture is also 2.5 times the size!
$150 for a tank and regulator is what you'd pay, so plan accordingly.

He responded, saying that yes, they are 20# cylinders. He also said he's selling it for a friend.

anyone make him an offer yet? If i was going to buy, i'd offer around $250-$275 and see what he says...would offer more if the tanks were full, but they're empty. Kegs are worth about $100...and there's only one reg for the 3 tanks. Good luck though, hopefully someone gets a good deal on it.

I have emailed him back and forth for a bit, and I think I might be able to get the whole works for $400. I just posted an ad on kijiji to see if I can get $100 for a 20lb co2 tank (assumed empty) with a 1 year old hydro test. If I can sell 3 of these, it's only $100 for 4 kegs, the Melvico carbonation/filter system, and some hoses and a capper. I could probably easily sell the 4 kegs for $100 on kijiji, leaving a free Melvico system.

Anyone interested in 20# co2 cylinders? Is $100 per a fair price?

I'm interested in a cylinder - I was only planning on a 5#, but given that I'm in the hinterlands of the province, I may not want to frig around getting it filled too often. $100 seems reasonable to me.

Of course if someone is looking to upgrade their cylinder to one of these 20#, I'd gladly buy theirs off them.

You have to be a bit careful with the CO2 cylinders. I've had one rejected because it had pitted on the bottom from sitting in the corner of my basement and gradually rusting underneath.

I called Don Brenton about it and the Hydro test is no different for aluminum or steel. I emailed this guy back stating that I didn't think it was worth my while to give him $400 and offered lower, but he refused. He also, incidentally, has relisted it on kijiji for $450.

The Don Brenton guy (Mark Brenton, actually) said he would buy the aluminum cylinders for $50 each, hydro test them, fill them, and sell them for $100. He wasn't really interested in the steel cylinders, but said the aluminum ones were more popular.

$450 is still overpriced IMO....wait a week or two, tell him you're still interested and offer him $350.

The hydro test is not different, but the steel cylinders have a tendency to rust and pit on the outside. That will fail the tank on a visual inspection in 2 seconds. Aluminum tanks are much more resistant to corrosion in my experience.

That's interesting. Every time I've talked to the guys out there, they say they do not/will not sell CO2 tanks.....
