Core 2 Quad PC FS

Post by NASH » Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:36 pm

Selling my quad core pc to help fund an upgrade. It's been freshly wiped with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 reinstalled and cleaned up with a couple new 120mm fans installed.

Specs:

-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz 1066 FSB processor
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29765

-Thermalright Ultra 120a Heatsink
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cooler ... a120a.html

-Asus P5N-E SLI mainboard
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=KyHOsOKWujC2QguJ

-8gb Mushkin Redline PC2-8000 1000mhz DDR2 Ram 5-5-5-12 (2 x dual channel kits)
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=28269

-BFG Nvidia 512mb 8800 GTS OC PCIe Video Card
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphi ... oc_512mb/1

-WD Caviar BLUE 640gb 7200rpm Hard Drive
http://techreport.com/articles.x/14380

-Sapphire ATI Theatrix Pro 550 TV & Radio Tuner with IR remote control
http://www1.sapphiretech.com/en/product ... p?gpid=114

-LG Super Multi DVDrw Drive

-Thermaltake Toughpower 700 watt power Supply
http://www.cdw.ca/shop/products/Thermal ... 14852.aspx
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.a ... 64&ID=1501

-Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Aluminum Tower case
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product.a ... 27&id=1461

I had to remove the 90mm fan from the clear side panel since the Thermalright Ultra 120 heatsink is too large :D

$500 OBO

That machine is very tempting to me. My last desktop died a few months ago, power supply went taking the motherboard, processor and video card with it. It was pretty ancient, an old Athlon 3200+ /w 2 gigs of ram and a radeon 9600 video card.

I'm using a chop topped dell laptop at the moment. Damn machine would slow to a crawl with any load with the stock cooling. So I removed the keyboard and some of the metal shielding, put a heat sink /w fan on the video card and a 120mm fan blowing air across the works of it. The machine now runs under 80C @ full load. It use to hit 95C and would crawl to a halt. Now I can actually play games at full resolution. Minecraft still requires me to play with fog on though so its time for a real machine.

The only thing holding me back is that summer is coming and I'll be spending less and less time in front of a computer, on top of that this is money I'd rather be putting towards brewing supplies/equipment and kegging equipment.

I hear ya Garak, there's never enough cash to go around and I feel for you with your current setup, sounds pretty painful :(

Anyhow, if you, JohnnyMac, Mr X or anyone else want to pull the pin on it.... it'd look real good on any one of you!

Yea I got to hold off on a new computer for a few months. Summer will be here before I know it and I don't need any thing helping me spend more time behind the keyboard. I can already feel the beer gut forming, the pants are getting tight around the belly. Thankfully the cycling season is here and I've already been out burning the calories.
