Built a picnic table out of construction lumber (not-treated), and want to stain it slightly darker (show the grain more) and also seal/protect it.
What do I use?
Safe if a bit of food gets on it (though we won't be eating directly off of it).
Thanks
What to use to stain/seal picnic table?

Aaron says you want to use "lifetime" wood preservative - doesn't exactly stain it darker necessarily, but it's the best for preserving, makes it looked aged, and it's super healthy - "you could eat off of it"
Anyway give it a search, its the best for everything except maybe the look you want.
Edit: here's what different 2x lumber looks like
