Re: Android Tablets - School Me
Dell is about to release 2 new Android tablets, both with Micro-SD slots (which seems to be extremely rare) for up to 128GB of storage. The prices are pretty great. It'll be good to get some reviews once they come out. The specs are similar to the Nexus 7, but the resolution isn't quite as good.

That's so Dell. That haven't even released it yet and it has "the latest Jellybean".

That was 1.5 years ago, so maybe it was up to date at the time?

I'm an Android dev and I've touched a lot of devices. I wouldn't buy a Dell or Samsung if you paid me, but mostly because I hate what their software department does to the OS (butcher it).

Nexus are the most pure when it comes to software, but not sure about build quality of the new devices. I have a first-gen Nexus 7 (Acer, I believe) and it's a pretty solid tablet. Still runs pretty well even though it's 3+ years old.gm- wrote:Nexus the way to go then?evanisnor wrote:I'm an Android dev and I've touched a lot of devices. My Nexus 7 runs pretty slow after upgrading to Android 5... But otherwise have liked Nexus products (including my 4 and 5 phones)

Yeah, I really like the Nexus phones, makes sense to go for the tablets as well. Anybody tried the Nexus 9?

Not sure if I would use a 7" tablet that much, only slightly larger than my phone (nexus 5) and too large to use one handed and too small to use two handed. 9 or 10" would be ideal for my use.

Nexus 5 vs. Nexus 7 vs. Nexus 10
I find the 7" fits on your hands better, I use it a lot for my business I need something more portable. Definitely bigger than the phone, when I have to look at the same stuff on my phone if my tablet is dead I want to throw them both off the balcony.
(Sorry for the crappy quality photo)

Re: Android Tablets - School Me
^ I second that. I use the tablet for reading, very comfortable to hold with one hand for that. Never tried the larger tablets though
Honestly the new nexus 9 or 10 or whatever came out last fall would probably be a great tablet too, I just think it couldn't really be held one handed as well

Jimmy doesn't use the 10" much.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:^ I second that. I use the tablet for reading, very comfortable to hold with one hand for that. Never tried the larger tablets though

It's bad enough when you're laying in bed or on the couch and fumble and drop a phone on your face, let alone the 9-10" tablets...or am I alone on that one

Just kidding!
I've totally nodded off and bonked myself in the head with my Note2. Definitely wakes you up!

I've got a Nexus 6 and a first-gen Nexus 7 tablet. You'd think the extra inch wouldn't make much of a difference but it's pretty standard for apps to show the layout differently on a 7"+ screen. For the apps that take advantage of that it usually makes the tablet more pleasant to use, IMO.
