Clam Digging

Post by erslar00 » Wed May 09, 2012 7:26 pm

Does anyone have any experience Clam Digging in Nova Scotia? I'm going cook up a Paella for my wife on Mudders Day and she's been nagging the heck out of me to go clam digging... I'm thinking of Kingsport Beach area but would like to hear any other suggestions if anyone is expeirenced in it and can suggest a better location.

Thanks,

My experience is all up in Pictou County.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

I think I'll target either Halls Harbour or Baxters Harbour...they're a bit closer... depending how hard these areas are to access... if it doesn't work out I'll hit you up for some more info...

Don't think your going to get clams at halls harbour or baxters. You need to go out to houston beach area, where there is sand. Back of Canning. You also might want to look up the size rules.

coordinates are
45Degrees 21'52.25" North
64Degrees 21'58.85" West
This is where the clam harvesters go. At the end of the road the clams are on the right side of the brook. This is where we get ours for fishing flounders in the same area. Good Luck.

I'm not sure about up there, but down my way, the digging is tidal, so plan accordingly.

Sorry X It's tidal there also. Don't think there are clams anywhere that aren't. There is lots down on the French shore too. Grand Coques=Big Clam in english.
