Montreal 28 - 2
Hey guys,
I'm heading to Montreal with the wife for an extended weekend. We're going to be staying with a buddy of mine in St Luc and doing a bunch of sight seeing and the like. The only real thing we have planned so far is dinner at Au Pied de Cochon which i've been dying to go to ever since i saw the No Reservations eppisode on that place. Are there any smaller breweries or brew pubs in and around Montreal that you guys recommend? Also if anyone wants to move small stuff (i drive an impreza so its pretty tiny) from HRM up the trans canada let me know and i'll be happy to help.

I've only ever made to Le Cheval Blanc, but I thought it was pretty amazing. Not much there food wise, but I believe there were at least 8 taps and a cask, all of really good stuff.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

If you feel like hauling 2 or 3 of Garrison's Belgian IPA to Amherst, it would be appreciated. However, if you don't want to stop when you are only 2 hours into your trip, I completely understand.andrewtrsmith wrote:Hey guys,

If you had room for 2 or 3 more to drop off in Amherst, I'd appreciate it too. If you can stop, Andy and I are only a couple blocks from each other, so we could definitely make the one drop-off point work I'm sure.akr71 wrote:If you feel like hauling 2 or 3 of Garrison's Belgian IPA to Amherst, it would be appreciated. Thanks so much Andrew. I work from my home office, so if you'll be up this way during the day we can likely do the drop-off at my place, or I could meet you somewhere closer to the highway so you don't have much of a detour. We can figure that out later though...andrewtrsmith wrote:Half a dozen Belgian IPA's it is. I did not care for Les 3 Brasseurs.
I realy liked http://www.brutopia.net/brutopia.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They were super friendly and had great advice on beer stores.
http://www.brasseriebenelux.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Was OK.
We stoped for a quick pint at other places but the names escape me.
We were there last month and it was very hot. Have lots of water and watch the heat.

Vices et Versa is a tiny hole in the wall with 30 Quebec micros on tap, but like DDC, no food beyond a charcuterie plate or nachos.
Whenever I hit a new town, I check http://www.beermapping.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; first, as well as the Locations at BeerAdvocate.
Have fun, looking forward to a report!

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the wicked information, there will definetly be a report when i get back. I do have a bit of bad news for the guys in NG. A buddy of mine hooked me up with some seriously cheap flights and we jumped on it. We will however be doing some driving around August 14th (our first anniversary) and will likely be up NG way or I can easily hand off the beer to anyone else driving up. (SORRY!)

No worries at all. I'm sure I'll be down that way before too long, unless you guys are coming up this way before.

No worries. Happy Anniversary! I'm hoping to be down in the city that weekend for the NCM order/Buskers/Wife's BDay/Gus's BDay. Plans may change, so we'll see (tho' Jeff & I are ~2 hours away from NG).

Re: Montreal 28 - 2
Back from Montreal, and it was a good quiet trip with friends. Although some things came up that prevented us from going to APDC I was treated to Coc au Vin and Canard Confit from my friends mom who is a retired chef (FUCK IT WAS GOOD). Beer wise was pretty quiet, We were only in the city for 1 full day and we took in 3 Brasseurs which had some pretty decent beers and better than average pub food. What I did see that is worth writing home about is a micro, no nano brewery in Chambly just outside the city. Bedondaine & Bedons Ronds (http://www.bedondaine.com/EN/accueil.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) was a great little brewery and beer museum that you could stay in for hours. Bottles, tins, glasses, etc etc etc from around the world. What scared the wifey is she read the story of how the brewery came to be and got very very scared as all the stories (bottles soaking in the bathtub, sneaking in 1 or 2 beer things a week so the wife doesn't notice, etc) described me, and most home brewers perfectly. If you are in Montreal and have access to a car i strongly recommend this place. There is also a wicked cheese place next door.
No other major news from Montreal however I have other big news in general but that will be in another thread.
