Just went to grab my sister in law at the mall and the roads were starting to get a little slick, luckily there was actually a salt truck out.

Wusses! Drove from Dartmouth to Mississauga starting at 6am Saturday, overnighting in Levis, and arriving at 6pm Sunday. Sometimes hairy, and I saw more vehicles of the road than I've ever seen before on Sunday, but no big deal in a Toyota Camry with new snow tires

*sigh* I had been blissfully unaware of the storm coming our way. Balls to that.

On the plus side of the Env Ca's forecast, Sunday looks to be a great day for brewing outdoors! Sunny and 0. Awesome! Might have to crack out both of our Garrison hefes this weekend. This winter is too wintery for outdoor brewing.

Stay warm, guys.

Damn weather, it's -26ºC (-36ºC with windchill) here in Amherst this morning. I can handle the snow, but could do without the ice we've had over the holidays and these temperatures. I moved back to NS from AB to avoid winter temperatures like this. :smackhead:

Everyone is saying it's a big storm that's on the way. Heard stuff like "Boston is shut down and it's on its way here", "it's 2 storms that are converging"

Been hearing the same things. Apparently tons of flights in and out of New England cancelled already.

I work for Staples, If Boston gets 2cm of snow all hell breaks loose and it's all we hear about. Someone just needs to mention the word snow and the city shuts down lol.

I convinced a few of co workers we drive dog sleds starting around mid November until Early May lol.

About the way I feel about it also.

Feel warm? I e-mailed my Father in Florida and told him I was going to crank up the heat to toast, Pour myself a few good beer and look out at the snow and pretend it was beach sand.

Don't know if beer will be up to the job of fooling myself.. might have to turn to shine.

Tsk tsk, GwynJeez. You're asking about stuff what's illegal. ;)

But, yes, you can distill indoors and I think it normally is done indoors nowadays. Or so I hear. It's not much talked about by those who do it, though, because of the whole legal thing.

Well, the weather's crap here in the Valley. Roads are crap. Visibility is crap. Shovelling is crap. Snow, snow, and more snow. It's also cold. Which is crap. But all that crap's a great excuse to stay indoors, bundle up in a blanket, and relax. A rare opportunity and I'll take it for what it is.

Drove Keely to work this morning -- our little VW the lone car amongst plows and firetrucks -- just to turn around and come home. Her place of work is open but we weren't willing to risk the worsening roads later in the day. No sense in that.

Stay safe!

I had my oatmeal for breakfast, put on some long johns, Bog boots, balaclava, gloves and a down filled parka that I used to wear in Manitoba, and stomped into work, walking against the bitter wind and snow. Not sure why I am here really as only three so far, out of a booked 20 for the morning, have showed up. I'm sitting here looking at teach yourself guitar episodes on YouTube. I took my kids X-Mas present guitar back (he wanted an i-phone instead) and I traded it in for a guitar for me. I used to play when I was younger, and always thought about getting back into it.

Someone PM'd me and told me how to make shine

Thanks :) there'll be no stopping me now. I'll be drinking shine and jamming in no time...especially if this weather keeps up.

What crappy weather. Wish I hadn't gone into work today. Hardly anyone else showed up...clearly smarter than me. Gonna go home soon. It looks like a good day for a big RIS or Barley Wine....maybe the christmas single malt. :drunk:

Mark, have you seen http://www.justinguitar.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ? When we were learning guitar half-heartedly, that's what we were using. We'll get back to it this winter I think. The lessons are "free" (honour system) and he's quite a good teacher. It will likely be a bit repetitive if you already know a bit. Never hurts to be refreshed on basics, though, to my mind.
