Looking hard at the nexus4 at koodo. Seems like a pretty good deal for $150 + $150 tabbed. And when made a random complaint, they offered to increase the tab if I bought a new phone. Decisions.....

iOS does this as well.

I'm not sure how the whole tab thing works (if you're really paying 300 for the phone?), but you can now buy the nexus 4 from the play store for $309 and not be tied into any type of contract.

Koodo is better for me. $300, and $150 is on the tab, which gets paid off in two years (koodo pays 10% of your bill into the tab every month). So $150+tax. It's somewhat like a contract, but I'm really happy with koodo, so i'm not likely to want to get out.

Who's towers does Koodo use? I seem to recall it being the discount company sponsored by Telus? So it's likely running off the Bell towers?

Yup, they are Telus's discount arm. I've been happy with the coverage and package. Although they don't seem to offer the 6gb deal anymore. I'm wondering if it was promoted as a block deal to them from Telus, and once they hit a theoretical quota, they cut it off completely. It was and still is the best data package out there AFAIAC.

Almost all of the Samsung supplied apps...

ALL of the Virgin Mobile apps - many of which are Bell Mobility apps that don't even work for Virgin customers!

Are you rooting your phones via the link Jimmy posted? I'm dumb on these things. Besides being able erase all of the bloatware, what else can be done? Unlock for use on other networks?

I've been using instructions from the net, usually xda, which is pretty much the home for most android development. Possibly unlock for other networks, although sometimes you need pro services for that. Depends on the phone. On top of removing bloatware, you can load custom ROMs for better performance and better ui's.

Nexus 4 now $199 for the 8GB version and $249 for the 16GB version. Crazy price!

Problem here. I installed a new camera app FV-5, but now everytime I try to attach a pic to a SMS message by taking a picture (not from the gallery), the pic that comes up is the same picture from the old camera app. Any ideas how to fix this.
