When my father was alive, we drank Laphroaig. But I almost never drink liquor, and the last bottle of Scotch I bought lasted at least 10 years. The only break in the pattern occurred last summer when we went to the UK for a cycling vacation. Between the planning and the arrival, my uncle died suddenly, and when we stayed at my aunt's home, she gave me the bottle of Laphroaig that he'd opened just before his death. So, since I couldn't take an open bottle home with me, I had a large slug every night for a week and remembered my dad and my uncle.

I wish I had a glass, now...

I'm not having any Scotch tonight... much to my chagrin... but I just cooked/smoked up a nice piece of atlantic salmon... which in my humble opinon is a close second... listening to Rush closer to the heart... wondering why our family motto "Je Pense Plus" (family name Erskine) is in french... I mean couldn't it have been in Celtic or Latin even...

Enjoyed a dram of the Ardmore when Wortly came over for a visit during my brew session this evening. Then I followed that with our Ewe Love Scottish Ale.

Found this thread lurking in the shadows. Drinking some Grangestone 18 year that I got in Florida. Never heard of it before this trip but it was a staff recommendation at Total Wine. Very nice. $35 for an 18 year old single malt, sad really.

Had some Lagavulin 16 at Henry House this week. Great for a cold night!

Just getting into scotchy, scotch, scotch. Entry level stuff. Tonight, I'll hopefully sample the bottle of Talisker that a friend supplied me with.

So I was at my buddy's place last night. He says a client gave him a bottle of scotch as a present but he's not a big scotch guy. He said I could have it so he digs the bottle out of the cupboard and hands it to me.

Exactly that. Not sure I would drop $120 for it but it's good. Potent as well at 55%.
