Any Dual Sporters here?

One of my favourite pastimes is riding dual-sport motorcycles. Love hitting the trails and riding, away from all the traffic.

Bought a KLX250 back in the summer of 2008 and put almost 38,000 kms on it since!
And just recently added a KLR650 to the stable.

Just wondering if any of ya are into this as well.

Not a dual sporter, but love dirt biking. I've got a CRF450X, and I've actually thought about blue plating it. My only hold up has been not wanting to invest the $$ in converting it, unless I know I will definitely be able to get the blue plate for it!

Nice pics Jimmy! I see your bike likes to take naps as well.

I'd have my neck broke on one of those. Getting too old for that and not brave as I was one time. So I have a tendency to stick to riding trails and woods roads at a somewhat leisurely pace.

We usually stick to the trails as well, but the odd time playing in the sand is fun

My buddy and I usually get out when we can, though most of our riding is in the valley because he has a cottage down that way.

I forget where this is pic is from, but it was a pretty good trail, great views, as well as some decent challenges!

Haha....yeah, sand can be intimidating tho....apparantly fast is good! When ya can hardly keep her upright going slow, one really doesn't any faster!

That's my reason for wanting to blue plate mine. Even just the small sections of road that need to be traveled the odd time when trailing makes the blue plate worth it!

What is this blue plate? Basically making it street legal? I know here on the rock it's not that hard. A few people just walked in to MRV, and said they wanted to make their motorcycle street legal. Then they just ask the usual questions on lights etc....Most of the time they don't even wanna see the bike. They just take your word on it.

Yeah, the "on-highway" plate is blue vs the red "off-highway" plate.

I've heard mixed stories on making offroad bikes street legal in NS. Anywhere from a situation like you've described, to having to get the 1 and only "certified engineer" to certify it as road worthy (and paying him for his service..oh, and did I mention he is located in NB and NOT NS

)
