Android issues
I want to be able to download CBC3 podcasts from this page onto my cellphone:
http://www.cbcradio3.com/podcast/standard/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But all I get is a page of unformatted gibberish. Tried chrome and firefox.
Anybody know how to make this work directly onto the phone? I can use the phone as a hotspot and do this on a laptop, but would prefer direct access.

Re: Android issues
I haven't tried to do this but I'm going to put my thinking cap on. I know there's a way.mr x wrote:I want to be able to download CBC3 podcasts from this page onto my cellphone:

Re: Android issues
Have you tried inputting the feed to your favourite podcast browser? Google Listen is free & might do the trick.

I've never used a podcast browser, but I shall look into this now.

Odd, I don't find it in the google play store....
And I don't want rss feeds. I want to be able to go through the archives and pick what i want.

Re: Android issues
It seems to have disappeared. It was a GoogleLabs offering. The RSS feed is what tends to power the archives. You give it the feed of the podcast and it creates links to each one, alerts you when there's new ones, etc. so that you can pick them and download or stream them.mr x wrote:Odd, I don't find it in the google play store....

I'd recommend searching the Play store to find one you like. This should do it.

If you get bored, could you try that app on the cbc site and see if you can browse through the archives of any of the various podcast channels?sleepyjamie wrote:i use doubletwist to download podcasts.

Re: Android issues
Now onto another item. i have background data restricted when mobile so the Nexus s doesn't suck down data when off wifi. Can I still run an app though of my choosing, while keeping all others restricted?

As far as I'm aware no. Set up your data limits if you haven't already, they work as a good safeguard in case you accidentally leave something running.mr x wrote:Now onto another item. i have background data restricted when mobile so the Nexus s doesn't suck down data when off wifi. Re: Android issues
Actually just trying it on the highway. It looks like it does keep other processes from using background data, but needs more investigation before I'm sure.
