Today, CFC features Class 2014 star running back from Sir John A MacDonald Flames, Hayden Clarke. Hayden began playing football at 11 years of age.

Throughout his career, Hayden has proven why he is considered one of the top offensive guns to emerge out of Nova Scotia. Since he began his football journey at the age of 11, he has demonstrated tremendous talent on the field.

Among the teams Hayden has suited up for include Timberlea Titans and Timberlea Renegades of the Nova Scotia Varsity Football League (NSVFL).
During his second season with the peewee Titans, the team capped off an undefeated regular season with a Maritime Championship title. For his exceptional play on field, Hayden nabbed Championship MVP to go along with Titans Offensive MVP Award he received that season.

The Nova Scotia offensive standout had a breakout campaign this past season as he played for his high school team, Sir John A MacDonald Flames of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Association Federation Football League (NSSAFFL). Hayden was one of the players that catapulted the Flames into the Nova Division Tier 1 Championship Finals.
The Flames lost the final to the Citadel Phoenix.

"One of my most memorable experiences would be playing in the Championship game this year," adds Hayden of the game. "Even though we lost, it was an amazing game and I will never forget it."

Ultimately, Hayden was rewarded for his sensational campaign in 2012 as he was selected to the NSSAFFL Nova Division first all-star team at the running back position. Moreover, he was named Flames offensive MVP.

There are some key individuals who've been major influences on the Flames running back.

"Along with my parents supporting me all the way with sports, Coaches Alan Wetmore and Graham Packman taught me a lot in both life and football," says Hayden. "Coach Packman was my first coach and he basically taught me the game, and showed that training pays off in the end."

"Coach Wetmore showed me the importance of the on and off the field commitment to the game, along with the training needed to succeed."

While graduation is not until June 2014, the Flames standout does plan to go to university and will spend the next bit of time deciding what potential career avenue he would like to pursue. However, football will figure prominently into future plans.

Overall, Hayden credits the game with giving him one key skill that has proven to be the reason he's been able to achieve success on and off the field.

"One major thing I have learned from football is that the harder you work, the greater the reward," explains Hayden. "This includes off season training, practice and even school."

Flames head coach Alan Wetmore has seen first-hand the emergence of Hayden into one of the top offensive stars to come out of Nova Scotia.

"With Hayden Clarke everybody will be watching a rising star," comments Wetmore. "An all-star in 2012 and was clearly one of the best in the league, Hayden worked hard to become a leading rusher and the offensive MVP of the Flames."

"As each year goes by he grows more mature and confident."

During the 2012 NSSAFFL Nova Division regular season in a game against the Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars, Wetmore says that the Flames running back amazed him with one particular play.

"This year in Truro, he had the most impressive play that I have ever seen in high school football and CIS as well," explains the Flames head coach. "I have always wanted to get the video clip of this play on CFC."

"He came up the middle on a counter, hurdled a tackler and on landing made a jump cut causing to tacklers to slide and fall, took it to the side line and 40 yards in to the end zone. The best play I have ever seen and I expect to see three of those things a game next year from him. "

While he's a gifted gridiron player on the field, Hayden also possesses an equally tremendous character and personality.

""Poker face" Hayden is quite an individual that is very easy to like and respect," reflects Wetmore. "No matter how bad it gets or how good it gets, you would not be able to tell by his reaction, demeanor and facial expression."

"He takes everything in stride, travels the middle road and that makes him very dependable. He has committed himself to being the best football player that he can be. He works very hard and is another Titan/Flame that is a football player through and through as well as a quality guy.
That is the best part of our organization, we have many, many kids that have bought in 100 percent and are all great people."

Overall, Wetmore has great expectations for the Flames star running back in 2013 and beyond.

"Next year, he will be another one of the great legacy of running backs that have come through the Flames," comments the Flames head coach. "He will be a great leader and great player for the Flames next year."

"After one more year of training, he will definitely be a major force in the NSSAFFL next year."

And speaking of Football, why the hell haven't Halifax got a CFL team. Looks like they had lots of support at the CFL game
they had there a while back, and it would drum up more interest in football in the east. Plus it would make me change my allegiance
from the Ti-cats
