Entrance doors
Anyone here have a recommended source for entry doors? We're replacing our front and back door this month, however, selection for 36" doors for 2x6 construction are fairly rare around the city (unless you order it custom)....everything is 32 & 34" doors, mostly for 2x4 construction.
So far we've shopped around at Kent, Home Depot, Home Hardware, Ace Lumbermart and Happy Harry's. Some can meet our needs, but I figured I'd check here before we make any purchases. We haven't really tried any of the actual window/door stores as I haven't been around through the week to get in touch with them.

Re: Entrance doors
We had custom width ones done by Nova Doors and Windows. We were happy with the results.

Re: Entrance doors
What kind of prices did you get? Right now it's looking like about 450 per door for 9 lite or half glass with sliding window. Know of anything you should look out for? Known problems or problematic manufacturers?

Re: Entrance doors
Front door, installed was something like $550, but that was 5+ years ago. That was for a full width door plus a movable astragal with sidelite.
Back door was about 450 installed. Garden/patio doors were custom (90" wide) and price was through tthe roof on those.
I don't know enough to comment on manufacturer's. I was happy with both the service and quality from Nova.

Does anyone have doors with the built in mini blinds? We are thinking about going with those, but I'm wondering about the quality/longevity of them.

Re: Entrance doors
I replaced my patio door windows with this kind. They are expensive as fuck. If you buy them I would buy from a good supplier who you can go back to if things go wrong. So far they have worked flawlessly. They tip up and down as well as raise and lower. I don't let the kids use them they break anything they touch. Guess your not man enough to have that problem though!

I had Alweather come out and price the front and back door, it was $870 (full length glass) for the front door, and $760 (half length glass) for the rear - but that's also custom sized with custom brick mould.
