Brewnoser's Pets

Post by GuingesRock » Mon Dec 16, 2013 7:17 pm

My in-laws are going to Saskatchewan for Christmas and they are bringing around my nephew’s gecko for us to look after this evening. Apparently geckos are really expensive, and it’s impossible to find two that look the same …not like a goldfish. My nephew really loves his gecko. Nothing can happen to this thing.

I don’t know the first thing about Geckos. Do they like beer for example?

I might post pictures, and fingers crossed, this story will have a happy ending.

I don't know if they like beer, but the piranhas I had as a kid liked pepperoni and sandwich meat

Rocky has settled in, sunbathing under his heat lamp. There’s a fluorescent lamp in the roof of his hutch, that you have to turn on by day, so he can get some sleep. He’s nocturnal. He sheds all his skin from time to time and eats it. We have to feed him live crickets. The crickets have to be fed apples and “cricket water” which is a clear wobbly gel. You can’t give crickets normal water because they drown. Rocky needs water in a little dish. Not supposed to give him beer, even at Christmas apparently.

I changed the thread title from “Gecko Help,” in case anyone wants to talk about their pets and post pictures. You don't have a picture of your piranhas Jimmy I suppose?

Neat Gecko, Mark! Is he big?

We have a rodent-like infestation at our house...

Here's a pic of our rabbits -- Bella is the big white/grey one and Digby is the smaller brown one.

And this is our guinea pig, Ally.

PS: the little brown bunny may not drink beer, but he always gives mine a Very Serious Sniff. We'll make a Brewnoser out of him someday. ;)

Here's our old fish tank, 66 Gal. No pictures of Jimmy's piranhas, but here are the fish we had a couple years ago. Each fish had a name too.

I sent EZ that pic last year, OMG it freaked her out.

That is (was?, I didn't see it this year) HPHunter's "cat". That's what woke me up after Moovember 2012. Between that and the wacky-toothed alpaca, HP's got quite the petting zoo!

That thing could give grumpy cat a run for his money. And make hphunter a millionaire...

That cat is a character for sure. I forgot about that picture. thanks for bringing it back.
Less of a petting zoo now, more of a stainless farm.

I'm not a big pet person.. and thought this thread was going to be dumb, but it's freaking hilarious! First Becky chiming in randomly saying "I love guinea pigs".. then gm's cat giving the death stare (that's every cat I know!).. followed up by Tilly (how can a thread will Tilly be dumb, we have a thing..).. and then the Moooovember 2012 mascot Crazy Shockkker Cat (isn't there suppossed to be multiple k's.. if so, how many?).

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Indeed. My sister-in-law used to have a female Dane (Bella) that had very similar markings. They're great dogs.

Rocky the gecko, is only about six inches. I’m hoping Tommy our old tom cat doesn’t get hold of him. We’ve been locking Tommy in another room when we get him out.

Love the "house rabbits" I had a white guinea pig when I was a kid called "icing sugar" we were inseparable. Unlike Jimmy and his piranhas, I have do have a picture of me and "icing sugar," sitting in a deck chair. I'm with Becky on the subject of guinea pigs. :)
