Site feed (RSS/ATOM)

Post by Jimmy » Sun Oct 17, 2010 6:05 pm

Alright, I setup ATOM feeds for the site. To be honest, I'm not familiar with RSS or ATOM because I've never used either but from what I understand they both achieve the same function. The only reason I used ATOM feeds is because they are much easier to integrate into the forums. For anyone that uses this feature, let me know how it works/any issues you have with it. I'd test it myself but as I said, I've never used them to know how it should work.

I haven't tried them yet.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Yeah, you should see a little orange square in the address bar of your browser.

Just learned that Google Chrome does not yet pick up RSS feeds like other browsers yet. And the square is blue...

Google Reader now in action.

I just set it up, and it seems to be working for me.

btw, I've been using feed readers for years, and have never made an attempt to learn the difference between RSS and Atom - the readers all handle them interchangeably. Some sites serve both - and the feed reader might ask you which one you want. Sometimes they're identical in result, sometimes the format you'll see in your reader is slightly different. As far as I'm concerned Atom is just fine. Thanks!

Sounds good. From what I've read ATOM actually seems to be the superior format, however, RSS remains the most used.
