Awesome Jeff!
Now, does anyone have any hookups for printing business cards or swag? I'm happy to make some calls if people give me an idea where to start.

Re: New Brewnosers Logo

Now some questions:
What is the significance of the stars?
Can you produce a simpler version that scales down to the size we use on the web site? Some of the detail (e.g. the outlines of the letters) is too fine for that size.

Aha! I think you've come up with a solution to our 'member' problem. Go into Noble Grape, flash your ass/Brewnosers identification, and get a discount.bluenose wrote:I think I'll get it tattooed on my ass

Re: New Brewnosers Logo
Stars = nautical symbols = Atlantic. One of the few nautical symbols that fit into the Atlantic theme that's not a Bluenose/schooner or an anchor, since those tend to be somewhat overused and can get you into trouble in certain situations (thinking Hell Bay's first logo).KMcK wrote: What is the significance of the stars?

I've a number of different versions and variations for smaller sizes—definitely not my first time doing this…

Re: New Brewnosers Logo
I hear ya, and definitely know what awns are (I grew up on a farm), but they unfortunately make the logo way too busy. I had them drawn in a previous version.wortly wrote:http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/arable-farming/3/1
Please trust me on this folks, everything is in the logo (or not) for a reason, a significant amount of time was invested in the design (for free I might also add).

Re: New Brewnosers Logo
Is there a way to make the tumbler as my little icon by my brewnoser bookmark?
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

I'll see if I can do some sort of 8-bit-ish artwork to use for the favicon for the site.mr x wrote:Is there a way to make the tumbler as my little icon by my brewnoser bookmark?

Some other colors need to be changed on the theme, I'll try and fix them up tonight when I get home.

No, I didn't mean to imply that you don't know what you're doing. You clearly do. It's other people who don't and will invariably take your initial version and shrink it down to use in different contexts and it won't look right. I expected that to happen with the masthead, but see you've made a more appropriate version for it already. Good work.jeffsmith wrote:Stars = nautical symbols = Atlantic. Assuming that we are happy with it as is, can you send me the original file so that I can do a test run of a t-shirt?

Re: New Brewnosers Logo
I really like it. Maybe we should have a page set up with all the variety of logos. 8x8, small, med, and full versions of it, just so people don't make it look like $h*t by trying to scale it themselves. Jeff you have done a tonne with this already, so maybe you can farm out the other jobs to people who are willing. I can probably do my share. I don't have the eye of a designer, but I can probably work with your designs to make a nice looking smaller version or 8 bit, and I have done my share of 8 bit graphics in the past. I also don't blame you if you want to do it yourself, just offering up any help I can.

Re: New Brewnosers Logo
What I'll do over the next few days is layout the logo for use at different sizes and perhaps Jimmy can give us a place where I can put a page with everything (as Graham suggested). I'll also put up an EPS file of the logo (high quality for printing) that can be used for t-shirts and whatnot. Also as Graham mentioned if there's something you'd like the logo for that we don't yet have an appropriate size for, toss a request in this thread or another and we'll get you set up with something. There's nothing that can drive a graphic designer crazy like seeing a logo he's created stretched out or compressed to the wrong size/dimensions. (OCD much?)

Try beer in the morning. That takes the snark off right away (unless you're an angry drunk).jeffsmith wrote:No offense taken, I should have finished my cup of coffee and gotten all of the morning snark out of my system before I responded.

I suggest making some t-shirts out of these and this will be the registration card / proof membership for noble grape discounts.
or for the hardcore brew nosers maybe we should all schedule a tattoo session.

I know a guy that owns a local independent screen printing company. We always went to him for our pubcrawl t-shirts back in my Dal days.chalmers wrote:Awesome Jeff!

Give me an idea of what we want and I'll at least get some quotes on a couple options.
T-shirts: type(cotton, organic, bamboo...?), colour(black?), printing(location(s), front crest, full front, full back, sleeve......?)
