Hey Jimmy, Can i get a star for the 2016 Garrison's comp? Thanks!

4th place Mountain Veiw apa. It was our garrison comp beer with manderin tincture. ..it didnot get entered it garrison (we had 7 different beers had to pick 4)...so I sent it off to this comp because it was already bottled.

Can Eric and I get a star for The Stillwell Open win...please and thank you

Just got a bronze in the American IPA category of the Because Beer competition in Hamilton, ON. First medal since starting to brew competitively last year so I'm pretty pumped!

Yeah Ian! IPA is a tough category too.

Anyway, I made it! My goal of more than 100 awards, with the MOB and Beau's results today, now at 101. It was a LOT of hard work.

I sent the last of my beer to this comp. I haven't brewed at home since October 2015, and my beers that won today were silver for an APA that was brewed in April 2015 (16 months old) and gold for an Irish red which was also 16 months old.

The beer was kept in a keezer all that time at 1 C, so it seems beer keeps well at that temperature.

The highest badge is 20+

I had another think about the fact that they were all more than a year old. OK, so a couple got medals but many others that did very well in their prime weren't mentioned. It'll be interesting to see the score sheets.

A few surprise wins for me at GTA this year, the Berliner was a beer i enjoyed but it didn't have the wheat finish that i was going for in a traditional Berliner. I think the wheat malt wasn't the best quality (shame on me i know, but my order didn't arrive in time), so i made a tincture with grapefruit zest and added it into the keg. The result was a very refreshing beer that had a really nice grapefruit kick. I was worried that the grapefruit would put it off style and was just hoping for some feedback but the judges were kind. The weisbier was the third batch of weisbier i had brewed of the style. I was playing with different mash profiles and fermentation temp profiles. I did a step mash for this one with a long hold at 110-115, and fermented it at 62. I added a small portion of melanoiden malt to round it out and i definitely enjoyed that batch over the other two attempts and it ended up being the beer i was hoping for.

I was surprised at the change in competitors this year, with you and Jared not competing there are some new names at the top. I wish i would have been able to send beer to all the competitions, but i'd be thrilled to hold onto 9th spot for the year.
