Hashtag forums?

Is there a way to apply hash tags to a forum thread's title and have some kind of way to do indexing on the topics? I find the search in phpBB to be great but often when forums get really large it becomes difficult to find those niche discussions that once took place.

No, the software doesn't have that function. I'm curious why a hash tag would make it any easier to find a topic though?

I guess it wouldn't make it easier with hashtags. I know you can search by topic title. What I was looking for was a quick drop down of frequent key words in topic titles (e.g. BIAB).
