In people's defense, the listserv hasn't been used in months, so they've probably forgotten about it, and got confused. I wonder how we kill the thing, so this doesn't happen again. I guess I could just un subscribe....

Maybe we should make up an unsubscribe thread to forward to the list-keeper.

This event is one of the reasons I like to clear out dead users from the site. Just more unused addys that can come back from the dead.

Paul shares the title of "somewhat reasonable but also poking the bear" with myself and chalmers steps in to grab the "ultimate voice of reason" throne.

This 'idiot' points out that the so called 'voice of reason' should have sent the "Hey Dude" email directly to Tim and not the entire listserv.

IMO that makes the 'voice of reason' the idiot, not me.

EDIT: add to that - I never received the SPAM LINK in the first place, hence my confusion

I've never agreed with that though. When something like that happens on a listserv, if you don't respond to the listserv, then you end up with somebody else doing it anyway, and you just create more confusion. In this particular case, I don't think anyone was being an idiot - it's something like 3 months since the last message on the list, and another 6 months before that. Nobody's looking at headers to notice that the mail wasn't sent directly to them (I knew because listserv mail gets filtered to folders named for the particular list).

Chalmers: monica sent me that text message on my way home last night. It seems suspiciously like somebody's got Tim's phone contacts as well as his emails...

Crap. Looks like it was a bad idea to integrate all of my Gmail and phone contacts. Damn you Tim! No more "12345" as your password (for email or luggage).

Based on a conversation I had with the Chebucto Community Net webmaster last spring, they'd be happy to retire it or charge us a fee for it to exist. Who set the ListServ up in the first place? That person could have it deleted by simply sending the <delete brewnosers> command.

Ask Jeff (Brewnoser). He's about the only one of that generation of Brewnosers who's ever here, and he isn't here much.
