Site appeared to be down earlier today, possibly around lunchtime

Quit your complaining..

I kid. Apparently there was some limbo time during the switch to the new server - some posts were lost and some other things were acting a bit strange. Let me know if it continues.

Lol @mumblecrunch.

X, maybe something flakey going on between the hotmail and our hosting site's mail servers. The board probably only sent it out once. I only got one.

How did it feel being able to send out a global pm with something that you felt was important, when everyone else has now been denied access to that? It must have given you a huge sense of importance and power. I found it distasteful.

I felt something was important for the site, posts were being deleted, moved, and I had been banned for speaking up about that, and the way a member was being treated and denied a voice. I thought that was an important thing to bring up and I was fairly sure if I had discussed it on the site only and not PMd it also, my post would have been deleted and I would have been banned again and no-one would have known. No one was aware I had been banned the first time.

All that was needed were some guidelines on use of the global pm system, for both members and mods to follow.

Now the global PM is your privilege only, and at your discretion (effectively disabled for anyone but you, as you will be likely the only mod using it). Banning me for the second time and insisting that global PMing facility be disabled for all but mods before I was allowed to return was doubly insulting.

Hopefully this post won’t be deleted. I have taken a screen shot just in case. If I’m banned again for mentioning this, thankfully I now have lots of emails from people from when I was banned, so I can contact people that way.

Sending out a global PM on a whim, trying out your newly found authority, wasn’t received well at this end.

Everyone else has been denied access, essentially because you have the disposition of a spoiled child who felt he had the right to abuse that system. If the mods/admin had the ability to prevent only you from using the pm system, it would be done. Is that clear, this is a group decision, not just mine. Maybe it's time you stop blaming others for your bad behavior.

This issue is being dealt with by the staff - essentially creating rules for people who don't seem to know their boundaries.

The last thread on this topic was removed by the board admin. I suggest anybody who wants to go down this road again discuss it with Jimmy first.

Thread closed - thanks Nick, this was good advice.

Grock, get over it.

X sent a PM using good judgement to promote craft beer and the authority given to him by the others who run the site.

When you sent a mass PM it was reckless and bad judgement.

X, thanks for locking the thread before it exploded.

This goes to everyone: stop ruining threads, it's a pain in the ass to deal with!

Edit: yeah thread should stay as is and locked

Anyone having issues with e-mail notifications on subscribed topics? I've just noticed recently that I haven't gotten an e-mail for a new post on a thread I've subscribed to in some time... Checked my account settings and doesn't seem like anything changed there to cause it.

I'm not getting emails for PM's either.

I think it has to do with something Rubbertoe disabled because of the hourly emails some users were receiving about PM's. He'd be able to tell you more.

I don't have any threads subscribed but I can confirm I haven't received any PM email notifications since July 31.

PM's are going through, and you still get the notification on the site, you just don't receive an email.

For now. I'm sure Rubbertoe will chime in with more information.

If people don't like the notification have them disable it on their profile by turning this setting "Notify me on new private messages" to no.

I think the issue was some people didn't like getting the same message every hour or whatever (bug).
