As anyone who’s ever tried to enjoy a frozen burrito straight from the microwave can tell you, just because something’s quick and easy doesn’t mean it’s going to be tasty. Rich, complex, and memorable flavours take time, and they often take hard work. This is as true for malts as it is for meals, and considering the time and the sheer manual labour that the folks at Horton Ridge put into traditionally floor malting their grains, it’s no surprise that the resulting taste of a beer made with Horton Ridge malts is complex, memorable, and seriously delicious. (It might even help wash down that awful microwaved burrito.)

Noble Grape has always been proud to offer locally sourced organic malts, and we’re very pleased to announce that we’re now carrying an expanded line of nine Horton Ridge malts at six of our stores. (Fredericton, Bayer’s Lake, Oxford Street, Burnside, and our two Annapolis Valley locations.)

New on our shelves from Horton are summer and winter pale malts, perfect for winter and summer beers, respectively, as well as Horton’s answer to crystal malts, smooth and golden Cara-Ridge and its slightly toastier, sweeter cousin, Cara-Horton. Horton’s wheat malt, Pilsner malt, and malted oats are also making their first appearances at Noble Grape, along with returning favourites Horton Vienna and Horton Munich.

All of these malts are organic and locally sourced, and they’re all floor malted in a process that’s changed little in the last few centuries and that continues to result in superior malts and truly delicious beers. Find out for yourself by incorporating some Horton Ridge malts into your next recipe. They’re currently in stock and all available at a refreshingly low price of $4.45/kg (or $69.99/25kg bag).

Happy Brewing!

Are there spec sheets on these new malts? I checked the website but could not find any.
