My grill doesn't rock at all when on the original KJ heat deflector. It can slide around slightly if you're not careful, but for low and slow and pizza cooks, it works great.mumblecrunch wrote:Agree that the divide and conquer looks awesome, but I thought that the KJ stuff doesn't fit as well in a Vision -- something about the grills rocking a little when the KJ deflector is in because of the gauge of the KJ and there not being any cutouts in the Vision firebowl. That may have only applied to the original KJ deflector or I may have misunderstood something.

I'm with Aaron on the GB.
I use fire bricks right under my bottom grill, on the side of the fire bowl and 2 in the center. Sit the grill on the bricke and you loose an inch of dome space. My Visson is the 16" one YMMV.

Another option is craycort, if you want something like a flag top, I have one that is split in pot three equals peices that are interchangeable.

Appears to be in stock now, but now with the caveat that it doesn't include the grills (maybe you knew that, but I don't remember it being mentioned specifically previously)... I can find the griddle and cast iron grills on their site ($35 per half), but no SS grill. From checking several other online stores (http://www.firecraft.com/product/kamado ... ck-kj-fcr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.authenteak.com/kamado-joe-fl ... -rack.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.bbqland.co.uk/kj-fcr-classic ... -rack.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), I feel like all you get for $45 is the wire rings and stand, no deflector, grill, or anything else. Sounds like it'll add up in a hurry, and more than I want to invest currently.
Earlier today, I went into the Kamado Joe dealer in Halifax, and the full or (new this year) split deflector kit was $65. I axed them to also price me out the equivalent to the full Divide & Conquer system (split deflector and adjustable grills). Also sent emails to the other KJ dealers in NS, looking for the same. Will report back with my findings.
I see this is $45US, but suspect it doesn't include the grills. http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/KJFCR.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
Thanks for the investigative work. I did see that bit about the grills not being included and decided against it for the time being. Not a good deal at all.
Please do keep me in the loop with what you hear back from the NS dealers. I'm in no rush at all, but I'd be willing to invest a decent amount of money in a setup that gets me easy and tidy two zone cooking.

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
Will do. Got off my ass and prepped the dead propane grill for curb-side donation (think of the spot on the sidewalk in "How I Met Your Mother", that's what happens in Spryfield), not before ripping off the perfectly-good propane regulator, dial thermometer, and the small ceramic deflector briquettes I'd used to try and reduce flare-ups. Worked like a charm this evening as I did drumsticks (direct) and mac & cheese (indirect) on the grill. Would like a fancier setup, but this worked quite well, and I'll keep at it until something else comes along.

Built this table today, it's all cedar.
Left an overhang on it so I can cut a circular shape out so it forms to the grill, but still not sure if I'm going to do that or not.

That's nice, great job! It looks too handy to cut a hole in.

Wasn't going to cut a hole IN it, just cut a bit of the end out so it snugs up against the grill.RubberToe wrote:That's nice, great job! It looks too handy to cut a hole in.

I saw this Kamodo Pro on Saturday, not sure if anyone is looking but it seemed like a decent sale...it was a floor model though.

I'm seeing some rumblings on a kamado forum that Costco may not carry the Vision this year. Anyone else heard anything?

I sort of got that impression from some things I saw on here. Dunno if it was anything in particular or just a feeling

I haven't seen anything on them, but it looks very similar to the Auplex Kamado which has been out for some time now:

I wonder if the heat diffusion stone is included (like the Vision). I'd like you go have a look at one but the nearest Canadian tire is an hour and a half way.

just to let everyone know, the vision grills are on clearance at Canadian tire though not advertised. i just picked one up still in the box (not floor model) for $549. there are two in stock in truro, and a few here in NL.

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
Taking my Vision Kamado back to costco today. The past couple of times I've used it, the ceramic has been breaking away inside of the grill..sort of "popping" little chunks out all over the place. I went in yesterday and picked up a return authorization for a full refund, 3 years after I purchased it - fairly impressed that costco is honoring that warranty 3 years after purchase.
I'll probably be grill-less for a while, but will keep an eye out on kijiji for a green egg, or primo (doubt a primo will show up).

Was it in Dartmouth? If not someone was trying to buy a used one off the floor by the membership area!
