Re: Blowoff Cleaning
Soak it in hot PBW for a hour, then rinse with tap water, then flush with starsan. Should do the trick.

Exactly. Though blow off tubes usually stain no matter what. But soaking and sanitizing will work despite appearance. I always use a blow off tube during first few days. Especially with high gravity beers... Too active for an airlock alone unless you leave adequate head space in fermenter. Cheers!

If you want to move away from Air locks and blow offs all together, these buckets are the cats meow. I've fermented 10% beers in these with no issues at all.Hobbitfu wrote:Exactly. Re: Blowoff Cleaning
they are really nice, I have two now and love them because I can see whats happening, doesnt help the brewing process but gives me something to look at, also the extra head space is great. The other thing that really helps is fermcap s, kind of freaks me out a little every now and then as the krausen is so much smaller than without, but it really does help keep things in check and is pretty cheap as well

Re: Blowoff Cleaning
Haven't used ferm cap yet. Usually I have plenty of head space but I have a bottle so may try sometime soon.
