FYI, Home Depot Canada bought a truckload of Vision Grill lava stones . . . $49.99 + Tax + $14 Shipping = ~ $75

I opened this link minutes after you posted it and it showed Out of Stock. The situation has not improved since. Did they sell out that quick?naes100 wrote:FYI, Home Depot Canada bought a truckload of Vision Grill lava stones . . . $49.99 + Tax + $14 Shipping = ~ $75

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
Crazy! I had ordered mine that morning. . . I believe they had them online for at least a couple weeks/months. I had spoken to Vision ~2 months ago and they said they just sold a full truck load to HD online. I kept checking by searching "deflector" . . . but I finally found it by searching "Vision Grill" and bought one.
Sadly, I must have bought one of the last ones. Given that they sold out very quickly, I would expect they will buy at least another truckload.
You could also call vision and ask/confirm . . . they are pretty helpful!

Hmm. The "Add to Cart" button doesn't work and below the free shipping it says "Product No Longer Available".
So close but still so far, damnit

It does make it easier for them to offer "free shipping to home" though!

Does anyone else have an issue with there grill freezing closed in the winter? If so how do you thaw it? I put my heat gun in the grill through the vent which worked, but it melted the plastic on the heat gun.

I've crumpled some paper and thrown it in the bottom vent and lit a small fire a couple times when it's been completely frozen.Jamie D wrote:Does anyone else have an issue with there grill freezing closed in the winter? Mine gave me hell a few times. Once I was able to light a small fire to thaw it, other times not so lucky. Best is to remember to cover it once it cools if you can beat the weather.

Hey folks, I need to replace the gasket on my kamado in the near future. I already have the gasket itself, but looking for any tips/recommendations on installation from those that have already replaced theirs.

I think the answer is Permatex Ultra Copper. At least that's what Sandy used.canuck wrote:Hey folks, I need to replace the gasket on my kamado in the near future. I already have the gasket itself, but looking for any tips/recommendations on installation from those that have already replaced theirs.

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
A drywall compound knife works well for scraping the old gasket off. Then I used mineral spirit to remove what was left behind. Finished up with a soft wire brush wheel on my Dremel at a low RPM to make sure the surface was nice and clean before applying the new gasket.canuck wrote:Hey folks, I need to replace the gasket on my kamado in the near future. I have quite a gap between the ceramic lips on my Vision Kamado and didn't use enough liquid gasket the first time.

Gordon, did you try adjusting the bands and hinge?
It's very difficult to hold low temps with a gap.
