Re: Mitch
oh snap I have been lurking the forums but I never look in off topic.
Yeah, I'm liking kelowna so far and definitely still keeping an eye on the halifax stuff. I'll be back in late sept/early oct for my brother's wedding and also will be back for christmas with my family (wasn't going to visit twice in such quick succession but theresa's family is dragging me to jamaica over the holidays and it was dirt cheap to add Halifax as an in between step and go Kelowna -> Halifax -> Jamaica -> Kelowna) so if anyone wants to grab a beer then hit me up. I'm hoping stillwell brewing will be selling bottles by the time I'm back, and I'm excited to check back in with tidehouse and 2crows since they were both still kinda in their infancy when I left.
As for why I left, Theresa's family is out here and she's put up with sticking around in Halifax with my family for half a decade so it's time I returned the favour I suppose - plus it's the perfect excuse for me to change careers so we'll be opening a small brewery soon-ish (just found the space, need to do licensing, reno, equipment install, marketing/branding, and finally once all that is approved and in place it'll probably be a couple months before we open the bottle shop and start selling)... Planning on doing bottle conditioned farmhouse styles for the most part (might wind up doing more "accessible" beers with a bit of a rustic twist to them as well at least to start - APA with kveik, brett or sach trois IPA, etc) - stoked to take advantage of all the wineries around both for the potential of well stocked barrel racks and for incorporating wine must into beer (not to mention all the other great local fruit options out here). We'll have more info to share if you guys are interested in a brewery literally on the other side of the country in a few months once we have our branding figured out and start to actually put up website/social media/label design etc.
